Location: 

The Governorate of Assiut lies in the middle of the Nile valley, almost in the middle of Egypt. Covering an area of 120 Km along the riverbanks.
The name “Assiut”? 
The name Assiut means the guardian of the road, meaning the guardian of the frontier of Upper Egypt. But it is used to refer to the Governorate in general; the name was first made of two syllables, sa- wat, in Hieroglyphic, and then was modified to suit the Arabic tongue and became Assiut.

The governor of Assiut has rich and fascinating mixture of multicultural heritage, dating back as the Pre historic era. Then the Pharaonic times, the Greek & Roman times, the Coptic time, the Islamic time, up to the Modern times. That makes the visit to Egypt incomplete without a visit to Assiut. So let’s have a quick glance at what the city has to give:
