Assiut University network is one of the oldest
Universities networks in Egypt as it was established in
1996. It provides internet service to all the faculties,
departments, laboratories, and Staff of Assiut
University.
This project aims at
improving the performance, productivity, security and
reliability of the network via upgrading the network
infrastructure, equipment, servers and software. The
project will serve as the main backbone to many major
ongoing projects in the University such as E-learning,
digital library, and University information systems.

The main objectives of the project
can be summarized as follows:

Upgrading the network infrastructure by
increasing the main connection rate to the
internet from 2 Mbps to 32Mbps. |
|
|
Improving the network
services via new mail, web, and domain servers
in addition to the required servers for digital
library, E-learning and information system
projects. |
|
|
Continuity of network
services by employing uninterruptible power
supplies. |
|
|
Improved network security
by providing the network with hardware /software
firewall and anti-virus, anti-spam protection
systems. |
