The
Agriculture Extension and Rural Development Center AERDC is a special unit
established in 1992 within University.
AERDC
is mainly concerned with rural
Egypt through utilization of the most advanced theoretical, methodological and
application tools.
AERDC
has an integrated scientific specialties. This team includes many researchers
working in different faculties and research centers of Assiut University.
AERDC
is devoted to play an active role in developing rural communities with special
emphasis on Upper Egypt, through:
Proving technical and scientific assistance to both local and regional
development projects and organizations.
Conducting Scientific Symposiums, discussion sessions, and conferences in
different local and regional vital development perspectives at both national and
international levels.
Preparing feasibility
studies, follow-up, and evaluation for different local and regional developments
projects.
Directing and Conducting objective discussion meetings and training
sessions as a way to improve knowledge and skill levels of the participants.
Proving different technical and institutional support necessary to enrich
basses of different organizations working in different development perspectives
especially for non-governmental organizations.
Issuing different media materials and components in order to create and
disseminate awareness and paying more attention to environmental dimensions in
development projects.
Conducting researchers, in co-operation with different organizations and
exchanging experiences in different scientific and research perspectives.
Activities
Planning
and carrying out three training courses for Shorouk librarians at village level
in Upper Egypt Governorates during Nov. 2000.
Planning and carrying out five short training courses for exchange
experiences and information between community Development specialists in Upper
Egypt Governorates during May-June 2000.
Planning and carrying out two training program in fifty six District
Upper Egypt in 1999- 2000:
a)
Developing the skill of Shorouk village committee members.
b)
Developing the skill of women leaders in rural communities.
Planning and carrying out the training session for promotion for
voluntary participation related to Integrated Rural development Program (Shrouk)
in 222 villages in Assiut, Sohag, New Valley, Luxor, Qena, Aswan, and Red Sea
Governorates during the physical year 1998-1999.
Planning and carrying out the training for Integrated Rural development
Program (Shrouk) in forty six village in Assiut, Sohag, and New Valley
Governorates during the physical year 1996-1997.
Implementing short courses for developing agricultural extension works
skills in community mobilizations 1997 in Assiut Governorate.
In
addition AERDC carried out the following field studies:
Impact of Unique Patterns of Social Relationship on Community
Development,
A Socio-anthropological study in Dar El Salam District, Sohag Governorate
(2000- ).
The problem of teenage marriage in rural Assiut Governorate
(1999).
Barrier of rural women participation in agricultural production and
agricultural development in Upper Egypt (1998-1999).
Promotion of rural women skills in income generating projects in Assiut
Governorate (1997-1998).
Some factors affects girls dropout of schooling in rural areas of Assiut
Governorate (1996-1997).
