The new B.Sc.-programme is a five-year-program, which is not finished at the end of this project. Whereas
the hardware is almost complete at the end of the project, the integration of the courses is not. Therefore it
is planned, to continue the cooperation with corresponding proposals to the DAAD. The industrial partners
are interested by themselves and are alredy now financing the major part of their expenses. Furthermore the
new courses will be integrated in continuing education seminars for sugar technologists from the whole
Arabian and North African region. This will help to get new income for the institute e.g. for a further
development of the hardware at the institute and by this also be helpful to enhance the sustainability.
On the institutional level the introduction of a new study program scheme and examination regulations for
Sugarscitec will make sure the sustainability on this level. If the ECTS-system will be introduced the study
program will get another and significantly higher rating, which will increase the number of students at the
institute.
The project contents meet exactly the definitions of the needs, described in the Higher Education in Egypt
Plan (HEEP). Therefore it is obvious, that the principles of the present national and also the regional
politics will be advantagous for both the efficiency and the sustainability of the project. The need the
support by the local and regional politics is already promised.
When the restructured study program is realized, the expenditure will be taken over by the Egyptian
government.
By dissemination of the restructured study programme the number of students and alumni
with interest for it will be increased and so the sustainability on a practical level will be ensured.
