ON RESIDUAL EFFECT OF GIBBERELLIC ACID ON VEGETATIVE GROWTH, YIELD AND BERRY
QUALITY OF “WHITE BANATY” SEEDLESS GRAPEVINE CULTIVAR

ABSTRACT
For studying response
of “White Banaty” seedless grapevine to the residual effect of GA3
applied in 1993 and 1994 at 0, 20 or 50 ppm
during pre-bloom and anthesis period.
GA3 concentrations sprayed through one year ago prior to
growth season for studying the residual effect of GA3 (season 1994
and 1995). Total shoot length (cm), shoot diameter (cm) and internode length
(cm) significantly increased in response to residual effect of GA3
application. As well as, cluster
weight (g), rachis weight (g), cluster length (cm) and rachis (cluster)
ramifications showed a remarkable increase as influenced with residual effect of
GA3 manipulation. Also, positive correlation were demonstrated on TSS%, total
acidity percentage (as grams of tartaric acid/100 g juice) and TSS/acid ratio in
grape juice of “White Banaty” seedless as affected with residual effect of
GA3 spray.
The final recommendation is manipulation with GA3 should be
only carried out on grapevine of “White Banaty” seedless during 2 years
intervals owing to utilization of the residual effect of GA3
application in improving yield and fruit quality without spraying.
