INSTRUCTIONS TO THE AUTHORS
Articles will be considered for publication in Assiut medical Journal in all fields of medical sciences, provided they have not been submitted for publication in any other journal. Before submitting a manuscript, the authors must note the following points :

Articles
should be type-written in double spacing on one side of standard Quarto Paper
measuring 21x29.7 cm., with a margin of at least 3 cm. Allround.
·
Original articles should be set in the following order:
1. Title and Summary.
2.
Text.
3.
References.
4.
Illustrations.
5.
Arabic summary
1-1.
The
Title should provide the following information
Title of the article in block letters.
Complete name of each of the authors.
Affiliation
Address.
Place whereby the research work was carried out.
The name of the author to whom correspondence may be addressed, should be indicated.
1-2.The summary should consist of brief statements about each of the main sections of the text. Itshould not exceed, together with the title, the completion of the first page.
2 – The Text should be arranged in the following sections:

Introduction.
-
Material and method
(s).
-
Results.
-
Discussion and
conclusions.
-
Acknowledgement (s).
· Each of these sections should be self – contained.
·
Proprietary
names of drugs, instruments, etc., should be indicated by initial capital
letters.
·
Commercial
names and signs, if included, should be in-between brackets.
·
Measurements
should be expressed in S.I. (system International) units, whenever possible.
·
For
more detailed information, the authors may consult the Royal Society of
Medicine publication entitled: Units, symbols and Abbreviations- A guide for
Biological and medical Editors and Authors.

The references should be writtenal fabetcal. In the case of two authors,
both names should be cited. It there are more than two anthors, only the first
author’s name is given, plus et al.
· The accuracy of the references is the responsibility of the author(s).
3-1.
With references from periodicals, the following example is to be followed:
Abrams, P.H., Roylance, J.and Feneley, R.C.C. (1976): Excretion urography in the
investigation of prostatism, Br.J. Urology, 48: 681
·
The name of the
journal should be abbreviated according to the most recent list of
periodicals abstracted by Medical Abstracts.
3-2 References from books should conform to the following example:
Britton,
K.F. (1979):
Radio-nuclide
in the investigation of renal disease.
In
“Renal Disease”. Black, D. and Jonnes, M.F. editors. Fourth edition, Chapter
10, pp.270-304. Oxford: Blackwell publisher.

No reference should made to unpublished material.

Illustrations:
·
Tables should be kept
to a minimum and expressed in a simple way as possible. Each should be complete
and self-contained. Curves and graphs, together with tables should be typed each
on a separate sheet and number

Photographs and
Radiographs should be submitted in the form of half-plate prints, approximately
17x11 cm., and all should be unmounted the top of the photograph should be
lightly indicated by a pencil on the back of each. The magnification of the
photograph and the staining technique should be given. Illustrations in colour
cannot be accepted, unless the anthors are willing to cover the extra cost.

* The authors are
required to indicate, in their submitted manuscript the approximate place where
each of the illustrations is to be put within
the text.
5 – The Arabic summary, not exceeding one page, should include the title of the work, the full name (s) of the author (s) and the place where the work was carried out. The idea of the research work should be outlined in short, and the main finding (s) as well as the conclusion (s) should be high-lighted.
BEFORE SUBMITTING A MANUSCRIPT, AUTHOR (S) MUTH THE ABOVEMENTIONED POINTS, SINCE FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL LEAD TO DELAY OR REJECTION OF THE MANUSCRIPT.
CASE
REPORTS
Case reports are accepted for publication in Assiut Medical journal. A case report should not exceed two pages. The sections should include:

The case.
-
Comment.
-
References.
The maximums of two illustrations are accepted with each case report.
