The Sugar Technology Research Institute (STRI) was established in 1994 in the campus of Assiut University in Upper Egypt. The institute is regarded the only one of its kind in North Africa and Middle East. The main theme of establishing the institute is to serve the sugar and allied industries in Egypt ( see the map ) and Middle East area. However, the institute welcomes candidates from Sugar and its related industries from allover the world. B.Sc. holders in Engineering, Chemistry, Agriculture and Pharmacy from recognized universities are admitted for associateship of the institute. The candidate must have an experience of two years minimum in sugar or allied industries.
