The Faculty of Arts participated in the 14th Theater Creativity Festival, currently taking place on the stage of the Nile Center for Enlightenment and Cultural Radiation, with its play 'Medusa,' which received widespread praise from the audience and demonstrated a remarkable artistic and academic presence at the festival.
The play 'Medusa' is a fully realized theatrical work supervised by Dr. Yomna Mohamed Atef, Advisor to the Artistic Committee, Mr. Alaa Omran, Director of Youth Welfare, and Mr. Waheed Abdel Razek, Youth Welfare Supervisor.
The 14th Theater Creativity Festival is considered a solid cultural platform that brings together the most prominent student and academic talents from Assiut University’s faculties, where performances compete in various categories including playwriting, directing, acting, theatrical techniques, and dramaturgy. The Faculty of Arts' performance drew attention for its artistic cohesion, production quality, and its ability to use the theatrical space and visual symbolism in an innovative way that balances tradition and modernity. In this context, Dr. Magdy Allwan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, emphasized that the participation reflects the faculty’s commitment to supporting student creativity and linking academic outputs with the local and international cultural and artistic movement, noting that “Medusa is not just a theatrical performance, but a living artistic laboratory embodying years of solid theatrical research and organized teamwork.”
Festival organizers mentioned that the participation of the College of Arts added a new intellectual and aesthetic dimension to the show program, and they expect this influential presence to continue in upcoming editions. The College of Arts continues to strengthen its participation in cultural and theatrical competitions, aiming to graduate creative talents capable of actively contributing to the Arab artistic scene and enriching cultural dialogue through contemporary theater tools.
