Faculty of Dentistry Successfully Conducts Its Tenth Medical and Oral Health Awareness Convoy for the 2025–2026 Academic Year

In line with its ongoing commitment to community engagement and sustainable development, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Dentistry, Assiut University, successfully participated in the University's Community Development Convoys. The tenth medical and oral health awareness convoy of the 2025–2026 academic year was launched on Monday, August 3, at Martyr Ahmed Galal School, reaffirming the Faculty's commitment to delivering quality healthcare services and promoting oral health awareness within the local community.

The convoy was honored by the presence of Prof. Ahmed Abdel Mouly, President of Assiut University, and Prof. Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. During their visit, they praised the outstanding organization of the convoy and commended the Faculty of Dentistry for its continuous and impactful community service initiatives throughout the academic year. They also expressed their sincere appreciation to all participating dentists and volunteers for their dedication and valuable contributions.

Throughout the convoy, comprehensive dental services were provided to more than 60 beneficiaries representing various age groups. The services included clinical examinations, diagnosis, free treatment, medication dispensing, and oral health education, reflecting the Faculty's mission to improve community health and enhance public awareness of preventive dental care.

In the presence of Prof. Mohamed Adawy, Vice President of Assiut University for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Dentistry, in cooperation with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration at Assiut University, organized a seminar and workshop on Sunday, 19 July 2026, to promote the culture of occupational safety and health as part of the "Your Safety First" Initiative.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Safaa Tohamy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, who welcomed the attendees and commended the vital role played by the University's Occupational Safety and Health Administration in providing a safe university environment that supports education, student welfare, and healthcare services.

For his part, Prof. Mohamed Nahed Attia, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, emphasized that the regular organization of such events contributes to raising awareness among healthcare professionals and reinforces preventive practices aimed at reducing occupational risks.

Prof. Mohamed Adawy affirmed that promoting a culture of occupational safety and health, together with increasing awareness of preventive measures, represents a fundamental pillar in minimizing risks and creating a safe university environment that supports the educational process while safeguarding individuals and university facilities.

During his lecture, entitled "Concepts of Occupational Safety and Security and the Procedures for Their Implementation," Prof. Adawy reviewed the concept of human security and its various dimensions, highlighting the role of governance in strengthening occupational safety systems within institutions.

The programme also included a panel discussion entitled "Occupational Safety and Health: From Concept to Practice," moderated by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Baset, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education for Community Service and Environmental Development and Supervisor of the University's Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The discussion addressed the fundamental concepts of occupational safety and health, as well as mechanisms for implementing safety requirements across the University's various sectors.

The event further featured a training workshop entitled "Practical Applications of Inspection and Monitoring in Occupational Safety and Health," delivered by Ms. Shaimaa Mohamed Kotb, Acting Director of the University's Occupational Safety and Health Administration. She presented field inspection techniques and methods for evaluating compliance with occupational safety requirements.
