200 Researchers and Physicians from Arab World and Beyond Converge at Assiut University's 16th Oncology Conference: Unified Treatment Protocols and Digital Platform for Patients

The 16th International Oncology Conference, hosted by the Oncology Department at Assiut University Faculty of Medicine under the banner The New in Cancer Treatment (2024), drew researchers, physicians, and specialists from Egyptian universities and medical centers both domestically and abroad to:

  • Delve into the latest scientific breakthroughs and cutting-edge technologies in cancer diagnostics and therapeutics
  • Harmonize treatment protocols across university oncology centers, ensuring equitable delivery of medical services
  • Bolster collaboration among research and clinical hubs through a unified electronic platform
  • Foster knowledge exchange among international experts to advance Egypt's comprehensive cancer care ecosystem.

Held in Luxor, the conference wrapped up its proceedings under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, University President, with oversight from Professor Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Professor Samir Shehata, Conference Chair.

Over 200 researchers and clinicians from Egypt, Arab nations, and Europe engaged in 21 rigorous scientific sessions and two specialized workshops, unpacking the freshest advancements in immunotherapy and targeted therapies for breast, gastrointestinal, and liver cancers.

Among its key recommendations, the gathering urged the establishment of a centralized digital platform linking university oncology centers, activation of multidisciplinary committees for patient follow-up, and heightened community involvement in supporting cancer care initiatives.

The conference earned resounding praise from participants for its exemplary organization and sophisticated scientific program—both of which powerfully reinforce Assiut University’s standing at the forefront of medical research.
