Professor El-Minshawy inaugurates the first phase of the Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Center in the presence of Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, former President of the University, and confirms: We are completing what the previous ones have built
Professor El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, inaugurated the first phase of the Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Center, in the presence of Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, former President of Assiut University, and the opening came within the framework of the university's plan to support specialized medical services and enhance the position of Assiut University hospitals as a reference center for treatment, training and scientific research, under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals.
Professor El-Menshawy was keen to express his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, former President of Assiut University, praising his vision and efforts that contributed to the establishment of the specialty of hand surgery and microsurgery at Assiut University, and the laying of the first building blocks of this distinguished medical edifice, which became the first of its kind in the Middle East, and one of the four largest specialized centers in this field in the world.
Professor El-Menshawy stressed that the opening of the first phase of the center comes as a continuation of the process of construction and development started by Dr. Tarek El-Gamal,
pointing out that Assiut University believes that major achievements are the result of institutional work and the accumulation of efforts, and that preserving and building on what has been achieved represents a consistent approach for the university.
Professor El-Menshawy said: "I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Tarek El-Gamal for his scientific vision and sincere efforts that established this delicate specialty within Assiut University, so that today it has become a prestigious scientific school and an international medical edifice. We believe that the ancient institutions are built with the help of their children, and we complement what the previous ones have built, keeping in mind one goal, which is to serve the citizen, and to improve health, education, and research services, in order to enhance the leadership of Assiut University and achieve its national mission."
Professor. Ahmed El-Menshawy explained that the first phase of the center includes 4 operating rooms equipped with the latest technologies to perform microscopic surgeries, 6 outpatient clinics that provide their services according to the latest treatment protocols, in addition to a recovery room that includes 6 beds, and 10 intensive care rooms, which enhances the center's ability to provide specialized medical services according to the highest international standards.
The President of the University pointed out that the center is one of the leading medical edifices, as it annually receives medical teams from various Arab and European countries to train on the latest techniques of hand surgeries and microsurgery, and grants a professional diploma specialized in hand surgery, nerve plexus surgeries, and complementary microsurgery, which is approved by the Supreme Council of Universities, reflecting Assiut University's leadership and excellence in this precise specialty.
The inauguration was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdulaziz, Director of the Main University Hospital, Dr. Amr Al-Sayed, Head of the Microsurgery and Hand Surgery Unit, along with the unit's team that included Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Qutb, Dr. Walid Riyad, and Dr. Omar Rifai, as well as Dr. Mohamed Helmy Al-Hefnawi, former Engineering Advisor of the University, Dr. Shehata Al-Dabaa, Engineering Advisor of the University, Dr. Ahmed Salah Qara'a, General Supervisor of the Olympic Village, and a group of orthopedic professors, faculty members, doctors, and medical staff and administrative staff at university hospitals, and engineers and supervisors of the Engineering Construction Department.
