November 16, 2025

Under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Committee for Solid and Agricultural Waste Recycling held its regular meeting to review ongoing efforts aimed at expanding sustainability initiatives and strengthening environmental preservation. The meeting was attended by Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, along with committee members.

Professor El-Minshawy emphasized the university’s strong commitment to waste recycling in all its forms, noting that it represents a key pillar of the university’s approach toward achieving environmental sustainability. He explained that the university is working to develop an integrated infrastructure for managing solid and agricultural waste through scientific oversight that ensures maximum economic and environmental benefit. These efforts align with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and reinforce the university’s role in serving both the environment and the wider community.

For his part, Professor Adawy stated that the meeting addressed several important topics, chief among them: reviewing the terms and conditions booklet for contractors responsible for collecting solid, ordinary, and agricultural waste (excluding hazardous medical waste); reaffirming that faculties are prohibited from placing posters, nails, or any materials that may damage trees, plants, or palm trees during promotional activities; discussing mechanical failures that resulted in the temporary suspension of certain vehicles and equipment used by the Gardens Administration in agricultural waste collection; and considering the formation of a committee to assess the condition of shredders available in the gardens and the Faculty of Agriculture, as well as any machines present in other faculties.
