Fields of study
Assiut University, based on the proposal of the Council of the Molecular Biology Research & Studies Institute, awards an academic graduate diploma in one of the available specializations at the Institute described in Article No. 18 of the Institute Internal Bylaw, the certificate is awarded, indicating the name of the diploma.
Organizing rules:

  1. Diploma is an academic degree and qualifies the graduate to register for a master’s degree in accordance with the conditions stipulated in the conditions for enrollment in a master’s degree.
  2. The period of study for any of the postgraduate diplomas is one academic year during which the student devotes himself to his theoretical, practical and training studies.
  3. The number of study hours in the diploma is 24 credit hours including:
  4. 18 credit hours of compulsory courses.
  5. 6 credit hours of elective courses.
  6. The maximum number of credit hours a student studies in one semester is 18 credit hours.

Conditions for registration for the diploma degree

  1. In addition to what is stated in the text of Article No. 21 of the Institute Internal Bylaw, the student must hold appropriate bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a relevant specializations to selected department (determined by each department council). All qualified degrees must be obtained from one of the recognized Universities by the Supreme Council of Universities. Open education degrees are not acceptable.
  2. Assiut University grants, at the request of the council of the institute, a postgraduate academic diploma in the specializations set in Article No. 18 of the Institute Internal Bylaw. The name of the diploma and the branch of specialization are specified in the certificate.
  3. During study period, students are expected to be committed to the provisions of the Institute's internal regulations.     
  4. The tables attached to Chapter (9) of the regulations clarify the academic courses for different academic diplomas in the light of the program description provided by relevant departments and approved by the Institute Council.

Diploma degree certificate data
The diploma shows the assessment of the success achieved by the student in accordance with the provisions of Article No. 26 of the Institute Internal Bylaw.
Adding new specialties
The Institute Council may establish specializations in the Postgraduate Diploma based on the suggestions of the departmental councils to fulfill the requirements of the labor market. In addition, joint specialized diplomas may be founded in collaboration with other organization outside the university. The competent council shall set the rules regulating this diploma. New proposed diplomas are to be approved by the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee and the Institute Council, then to be submitted to the University Council for final approval. The institute may also freeze or cancel any of the academic diploma specialties when necessary.
Examinations

  1. Diploma courses are provided throughout the academic year (2 semesters). Students are expected to take and pass examinations on taught courses at the end of each semester.
  2. Grades of taught courses are provided according to the preset schedule described in Article No. 26 of the Institute Internal Bylaw.

Cancellation of registration
In addition to the general conditions provided in Articles No. 59 and 60 of the Institute Internal Bylaw, diploma registration is to be canceled when registered student failed to obtain the diploma within three years from his initial official registration (including acceptable excuses).
