The Faculty of Pharmacy – Assiut University has received an equipment grant under the “Instrumental Access” Program, provided by Seeding Labs, a nonprofit organization based in the United States.
The value of the equipment provided by the organization is estimated at USD 100,000–300,000. The grant includes scientific equipment and laboratory supplies.
The Faculty of Pharmacy was awarded this grant following a series of procedures that were approved by the University Council, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, former President of Assiut University; under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abd El-Mawla, President of Assiut University and former Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Prof. Dr. Gamal Badr, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research and General Coordinator of the International Relations Office and Arab Universities Affairs.
The grant was supervised and implemented by Prof. Dr. Gihan Nabil Fetih, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Dr. Mostafa Ahmed Hussein, Professor of Organic Chemistry and former Head of the Department; and Dr. Rana Mohamed Ibrahim Morsy, Lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry.
The grant includes laboratory and scientific equipment, glassware, and high-quality consumable materials serving most of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s academic disciplines. The grant aims to support and advance scientific research and strengthen higher education.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry at Assiut University is the first department in Egypt and North Africa to receive this funding under the program. The award was granted after the department successfully passed a rigorous and highly competitive selection process, involving the submission and evaluation of applications from diverse institutions around the world.
The newly acquired equipment will provide scientists with opportunities to gain new knowledge and expertise, enabling them to benefit from sustainable research funding. It will also contribute to enhancing the training of university students, preparing them to participate effectively in the scientific workforce and the innovation-driven economy.
