Diplomas

Diplomas:

 

Assiut University grants, upon the request of the faculty board, Diploma Degrees in the following specializations:

  1. Science and Technology of Sugar Industry (Engineering - Chemistry - Agriculture).
  2. Environmental Sciences and Pollution Remediation.
  3. Science and Technology of Industrial Biotechnology.
  4. Science and Technology of Pulp, Paper and Board Industry.
  5. Science and Technology of the Fertilizer Industry.
  6. Science and Technology of Oils and Detergents Industry.
  7. Science and Technology of Feed Industry.
  8. Science and Technology of Materials.

The study duration to obtain any of the postgraduate diplomas is four semesters, provided that the minimum hours of study are 16 hours per week and for a period of 14 weeks in one semester. The study schedules are announced to students before the beginning of the academic year.

For a student to register for any of the postgraduate diplomas, the following is required:

  1. To be a graduated from the faculties of Engineering, Science, Agriculture or Pharmacy from an Egyptian university, or to have obtained an equivalent certificate from another recognized scientific institute, according to the nature of the diploma to be enrolled in.
  2. To submit the approval of the entity in which he works for the registration.
  3. Obtaining the approval of the faculty administration.

For the student to enter the exam, his attendance rate must not be less than 75% in each course. The University Board, based on the proposal of the faculty Board, determines the dates of the examinations. If the student is absent or fails in one or two courses in either of the two semesters, the diploma exam in May, he may enter a second term exam in which he failed to be held in the month of September, and the Faculty Board may provide one exceptional opportunity for students who fail in the September round, the student is not allowed to register for the year The second for the diploma, only after his success in all the subjects of the first year. The Board may re-enroll students who have failed in more than two courses at once. If his absence or failure is repeated, his registration is canceled.

The passing grades in the courses and in the general grade are calculated by one of the following grades:

  1. Excellent: 90% or more of the total score.
  2. Very good: from 80% - <90% of the total score.
  3. Good: from 70% - <80% of the total score.
  4. Pass: from 60% - <70% of the total score.
  5. Failed: from 30% - <60% of the total score.

The general grade for the diploma should be a cumulatively estimated based on the total marks of the four semester courses.
