The University President also received Dr. Iman El-Azizi, Vice President of 6th of October University and Professor of Irrigation and Hydraulics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam Ashour, former Vice President of Assiut University and Professor of Irrigation and Hydraulic Structures Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, and Mr. Shawkat Saber, Secretary General of the University.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy welcomed the University's guests, expressing his appreciation for their presence and contribution to enriching scientific research. He emphasized the University's commitment to strengthening scientific cooperation and exchanging expertise with various academic and research institutions, which contributes to enhancing the quality of the educational and research process.
The President of Assiut University affirmed the university's commitment to directing scientific and applied research towards addressing critical issues that meet societal needs and contribute to supporting sustainable development plans, thereby strengthening the national economy.
He added that Assiut University is working to align the outputs of scientific research with the needs of various sectors of the state, particularly in the field of water resource management. He emphasized the importance of translating research findings into practical applications and innovative, implementable solutions, thereby maximizing the utilization of available resources.
He noted the university's continued support for applied research that offers innovative solutions and reinforces its role as a leading scientific institution serving the community and developing the environment. He also highlighted the university's commitment to fostering collaboration with distinguished scientific expertise at both the local and international levels.
For their part, the university's guests expressed their delight at being at Assiut University, praising its pioneering scientific and research role and its distinguished faculty and human resources. They also thanked Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy for his warm welcome and wished the university continued progress and prosperity.
The visit was to participate in the discussion of a doctoral dissertation in irrigation engineering. The dissertation supervisory committee included Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam Ashour, Dr. Tarek Sayed Abu Zeid, Assistant Professor of Irrigation Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, and Dr. Yasser Mohamed Ali, Head of the Water Optimal Use Department at the National Water Research Center, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
The examining committee included Dr. Hossam Maghazi, Dr. Iman El-Azizi, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam Ashour, Dr. Tarek Sayed Abu Zeid, and Dr. Yasser Mohamed Ali (joint supervisors).
The dissertation, titled "A Field Study on Replacing Traditional Flood Irrigation for Sugarcane in Upper Egypt with Drip Irrigation Technology," was submitted by Eng. Ahmed El-Sayed Ali Hassan, Assistant Researcher at the National Water Research Center, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
