The Dean of the College participated in the judging of the Master's thesis submitted by the researcher, Engineer/ Manar Zakaria Mahmoud

The Dean of the College receives Professor Dr. Osama Hodhod.
Professor Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the College, received on Sunday, 5/17/2026, Professor Dr. Osama Abdel Ghafour Hodhod, Professor of Properties and Resistance of Materials at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, on the sidelines of his participation in judging the master’s thesis submitted by the researcher, engineer Manar Zakaria Mahmoud, entitled “Assessing the quality of concrete structures using the speed of ultrasonic pulses,” as an external referee, with the participation of Professor Dr. Omar Ahmed Farghal, Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, as an arbitrator. Internal, which was conducted under the supervision of:
- Professor Dr. Shehata Al-Dabaa Abdul Rahim.
- Professor Dr. Islam Muhammad Abdel Latif.
- Professor M. Dr. Muhammad Khaled Nafadi.
It is a thesis funded by the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority within the framework of the Graduate Student Support Program (Second Call - Project No. 48924).
Mr. Prof. Dr. Osama Abdel Ghafour Hodhod praised the research efforts made within the college and the university’s academic and research development and distinguished educational structure. For his part, Mr. Prof. Dean of the college expressed his sincere appreciation to His Excellency for his participation in judging the thesis, stressing the college’s keenness to strengthen the bonds of academic and research cooperation with various scientific expertise in a way that contributes to supporting the educational and research process.
The thesis dealt with assessing the quality of concrete structures using non-destructive tests, with a focus on the ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) test, studying the factors affecting its results, and the extent to which it can be relied upon to estimate the resistance of concrete to pressure. The study included an integrated laboratory program that included testing a number of concrete mixtures under different conditions and ages, with the results analyzed and compared to relevant international specifications.
