Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Assiut University Meets with Assistant Academic Staff to Discuss Challenges and Requirements for Quality Assurance and Accreditation
On Monday, November 2, 2026, the administration of the Faculty of Engineering at Assiut University held an extensive meeting with the assistant academic staff—comprising assistant lecturers and teaching assistants—at the Prof. Dr. Abdel-Moneim Hassan Kamel Lecture Hall in the Department of Architecture. This is the same venue where a previous meeting with the faculty members took place.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Shehata El-Dabaa Abdel-Rahim, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Onaib Othman, Director of the Faculty’s Quality Assurance Unit; Prof. Dr. Khaled Ali Youssef, Head of the Department of Architecture; and Dr. Walid Abu El-Wafa, former coordinator of the Construction Engineering program.
The meeting opened with a welcome address, emphasizing that the assistant academic staff represent the cornerstone of the Faculty’s future and constitute the next generation of faculty members. The administration then addressed several general challenges, including shortages in support staff—such as technicians and administrative personnel—as well as a lack of equipment supplies.
Regarding academic matters, the administration highlighted that its top priorities include finalizing the new academic bylaws—aligned with the 2026 reference framework and based on a credit-hour system—and submitting applications for both institutional and programmatic accreditation for the Civil Engineering and Architecture programs. The administration emphasized the necessity of fulfilling several core requirements for quality assurance and accreditation—such as those related to course materials—ensuring the completion of all procedural steps, and promptly addressing tasks requested by the academic departments. At the same time, the college and department leadership underscored their commitment to providing a suitable environment for assistant faculty members to carry out their assigned responsibilities.
The Dean also highlighted the importance of pursuing postgraduate studies, engaging in scholarly publishing, and participating in research projects, noting the college’s dedication to supporting early-career researchers and removing any obstacles they may encounter.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the floor was opened for discussion. Attendees shared their insights and proposals for improving various aspects of the college and overcoming existing challenges. The college administration reaffirmed its commitment to listening to diverse perspectives and leveraging them to advance the development process and achieve the college’s goals.
