Within the framework of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Egyptian Man,” which is taking place under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, opened today, Wednesday, November 13, the activities of the Scientific Educational Day on “Awareness of Malnutrition, Obesity, and Chronic Diseases.” "Among employees, students, Which was organized by the College of Law, in cooperation with the Youth Health Center of the Department of Public Health at the College of Medicine, under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Dweeb Hussein Saber, Dean of the College of Law, Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the College of Medicine, and Dr. Medhat Al-Arabi, Director. University Youth Health Center.
Dr. Rajab Al-Kahlawi, Vice Dean of the College of Law for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean of the College of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Ikram Abdel-Khaleq, Head of the Public Health Department at the College of Medicine, Dr. Rehab Al-Dakhli, Media Advisor to the University President, participated in the scientific day’s activities, along with a group of presidents. At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Ahmed Al-Minshawy pointed out: He stressed the importance of the scientific day that aims to raise awareness of malnutrition, obesity, and chronic diseases, which comes within the framework of the “New Beginning” initiative, explaining that Assiut University’s plan to participate in the initiative aims to increase awareness and education by launching awareness campaigns and educational health programs, stressing the university’s interest in all its sectors. ; Educational, health, and therapeutic university hospitals, To maximize the benefit from the services provided to its members and to the external community, out of its belief in the importance of human health, and in implementation of the presidential initiative “Bedaya”, which is based on interest in building a conscious, healthy, educated human being; It contributes to achieving sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem drew attention to the vision of the World Health Organization, which is to prevent and control diseases, pointing out the importance of following a healthy diet and sound, sustainable nutrition. To maintain the reduction of malnutrition diseases in society.
Dr. Dwaib Hussein Saber reported that the scientific day includes; Awareness lectures; To prevent chronic diseases, in addition to detecting and performing blood sugar, blood pressure, and weight tests; To ensure the health of employees and students.
Dr. Medhat Al-Arabi referred to the health and therapeutic services provided by the Youth Health Center of the University’s Department of Public Health to all groups from inside and outside the university, stressing the university administration’s permanent and ongoing support. To meet the needs of the center; To continue to provide better service as it is an honorable destination for the university and community service.
Worth mentioning; Today's activities included the provision of some health services; Including: measuring body components (weight - height - fat percentage - fat mass) for (300) cases, and measuring sugar (cumulative - random) for (260) cases; Faculty, staff, and students.
