Overview

The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Assiut University, is one of the oldest scientific departments in the university. The department has witnessed a great development since its establishment in 1957 with the establishment of the university. Among the 129 faculty members and their assistants, there are 65 professors and 16 assistant professors and 14 teachers, whose research activities cover a wide range of different disciplines in chemistry. Moreover, based on the adoption by the University of Assiut of the one-department system, the department of Chemistry teaches chemistry courses with different specializations for the four-year students in the faculties of Science and Education, as well as the first-year students in the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and students of the preparatory teams of Pharmacy and Engineering.

Mission:

The mission of the Department of Chemistry stems from the mission of the Faculty of Science, Assiut University, as it aims to prepare graduates in various chemistry majors according to academic standards that meet the needs of industry and the service sector. The department is keen to ensure that the graduates are fully aware of the ethics of the profession and the requirements of environmental protection. The department offers postgraduate programs (Diploma - Master's -PhD) to prepare generations of researchers in universities and research and industry centers to meet the challenges resulting from rapid scientific developments.

Vision:

The Department of Chemistry seeks to update and develop academic programs and curriculum, and to update teaching methods and methods of student evaluation so that graduates can compete in the job market. The department also includes future plans within its strategy in the field of research in order to enhance the society.
