SDG3
Details:

3.3.4 Sexual and Reproductive Health care Services:

Assiut University is dedicated to advancing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and well-being across Upper Egypt through an integrated network comprising the Women’s Health University Hospital (WHH), Youth Health Center, Family Medicine Department, Safe Woman Unit, and Women’s Association.

Operating as the region's primary maternal care facility with a 295-bed capacity, WHH managed over 26,000 patients in 2025 delivering specialized outpatient care across Gynecology (5,226 visits), Antenatal Care (4,865 visits), Family Planning (2,548 visits), and Early Cancer Detection (377 visits), alongside 12,582 inpatient admissions. Key clinical initiatives include a flagship intra-cesarean IUD insertion program in partnership with the Ministry of Health to curb population growth, expanded Advanced Fetal Care (in-utero transfusions), CAP-accredited diagnostic labs, and new postgraduate diplomas in Assisted Fertilization and Gynecologic Endoscopy. Operating in a safe, confidential, and respectful environment, the Safe Woman Unit provided multidisciplinary clinical, legal, and psychological care for 556 cases of gender-based violence using the international LIVES protocol, while mobile health caravans and campus health drives (such as the "You are the Hero of Your Story" campaign) delivered vital breast cancer screenings and reproductive literacy to female students and rural communities.

Through this integrated framework of specialized clinical care, academic training, confidential counseling, and targeted public outreach, Assiut University continuously elevates the accessibility, quality, and long-term outcomes of reproductive healthcare throughout the region.
