- Dr. El-Minshawy: the University's participation in" Earth Hour " confirms our commitment to environmental sustainability

Assiut University participated this evening, Saturday, March 22, in the global environmental event "Earth Hour", where it turned off the lighting for all its buildings for an hour, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, as part of its efforts to rationalize energy consumption and contribute to countering global warming and climate change.

Dr. Ahmed Al-manshawi, president of the University, stressed that the University's participation in" Earth Hour " reflects its firm commitment to collective action to combat climate change, pointing out that this event represents a strong message to enhance environmental awareness and encourage society to take positive steps towards protecting natural resources and achieving environmental sustainability.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Alim, vice president of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that the university invited its employees to participate in the initiative by turning off unnecessary lights, to highlight the risks of climate change and the importance of rationalizing energy consumption, adding that the positive interaction of students, faculty, and staff reflects an increasing environmental awareness of the importance of this global issue.

The participation of Assiut University in this event comes as a confirmation of Egypt's leading role in addressing the challenges of climate change, as "Earth Hour" is a global initiative launched by the WWF in 2007, and is celebrated annually on the last Saturday of March, by turning off unnecessary lights for one hour, as a global symbol of concerted efforts in the face of environmental changes.
