Conclusion of the training program to qualify applicants for the position of Dean of the faculty

Prof. El-Minshawy: the training program covers all aspects of institutional development in various sectors at the University

   Assiut University concluded the activities of the training program to qualify applicants for the position of Dean of the faculty, under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, which was organized by the Center for developing the capabilities of faculty members and leaders at the university, under the supervision of Dr. Jaber Ahmed Mujahid, director of the center.

  Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the importance of benefiting from lectures and valuable seminars aimed at preparing and qualifying university cadres and leaders to manage colleges on sound scientific bases, through developing administrative capabilities, exchanging experiences between candidates for this position, and training them on a number of self -, professional, administrative, and leadership skills, to support them to make appropriate decisions to manage their colleges.

  The program was organized within the framework of the University's keenness to train and qualify administrative leaders to manage colleges, within the framework of the Assiut University strategy, the objectives of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research 2030 and the state strategy for Sustainable Development.

The first day of the program included; two Scientific Sessions, the first for Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mawla, vice-president of the University for education and Student Affairs, on: institutional development in the education and student sector, and the second for Dr. Doib saber, dean of the Faculty of law and legal adviser to the president of the University, on: legal aspects in universities, and also included the sessions of the second and third days; lectures on: institutional development in the community service and environmental development sector for Dr. Mahmoud Abdul-Alim, vice-president of the University for community service and environmental development, and institutional development in the Graduate Studies and research sector, for Dr. Jamal Badr, vice-president of the University for graduate studies the University Secretary General, Mr. Shawkat saber, Strategic Planning, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Azim Talab, director of the Strategic Planning Unit at the University, and financial aspects at the universities, Mr. Essam Kamal, representative of the Ministry of finance at the University.

The lecture of Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla, vice president of the University for education and student affairs, included "institutional development in the education and students sector", and discussed a number of topics, including how to develop a college development plan that keeps pace with the Times and is related to advanced technology and artificial intelligence techniques, the description of courses and study programs, the executive plan for improvement and development, the need to encourage students to be creative, adopt their ideas and innovative projects, the lecture also included highlighting the importance of diversity in student activities, and the need to pay attention to the file of social solidarity cases.

Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president of the University for community service and Environmental Development, spoke in his lecture on the role of university education in community service; the importance of developing and disseminating knowledge and scientific research in various fields, enhancing cooperation with the world of work, analyzing the needs of society and proposing solutions to its problems, developing abilities, skills, values and citizenship among students and graduates, encouraging critical, creative, innovative and entrepreneurial thinking among students and researchers, enhancing communication and interaction between the University and society, developing academic curricula and programs to match the needs and challenges of society and the labor market, and the importance of providing lifelong learning opportunities for society, by providing courses, workshops, seminars, lectures in various fields.

The activities of the training program included; a lecture by Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president of the University for graduate studies and research affairs, entitled: "Ethical Considerations in scientific research for the supervision of scientific Theses", which discussed a number of topics including; the role of supervision of scientific theses in building scientific cadres capable of finding solutions to societal problems, the strategic plan for the supervision of scientific, and the documentary course for publishing a research paper in the College Journal, the International Journal, and how to make sure that the journal is listed on the WOS website.

In his lecture entitled" administrative aspects of Universities", Prof. Shawkat saber, secretary general of the University, spoke about three main topics, including: discussing the financial and administrative aspects of the University in general, and for each college separately, which concerns the budget and the final, the lecture also reviewed the powers and competencies of the senior university leadership, and the competencies of the college leadership, especially with regard to the administrative and organizational aspects of each college.

The events also included a lecture by Dr. Doib saber, dean of the Faculty of law and legal adviser to the president of the University, on the legal aspects of universities, during which he stressed that the legal legislation, represented by the law on the organization of universities, is the basis for choosing the most suitable candidate for the post of Dean of the faculty, where the legislator referred to the executive authority (Ministry of higher education and scientific research); the responsibility of forming selection committees, and also reviewed the lecture; ministerial decisions organizing the nomination and selection process, the most important of which is decision no. (1365) for the year, and the most recent decision no. (2468) for 2024, in addition to discussing, procedures, conditions of candidacy, criteria for differentiation between candidates.

During his lecture, which was entitled "Strategic Planning", Dr. Mohammed Abdul Azim pointed out the importance of the role and tasks of the dean, and the development of well-thought-out executive plans to achieve the goals, which include the development of the College in all its sectors, including the education and Student Affairs Sector, The Graduate Studies and research affairs sector, the community service affairs sector and environmental development. Also discussing the preparation of  the study of the current situation and the content of the strategic plan of the College, the difference between the vision and mission, the strategic goals and objectives.
