Dr. El-Minshawy: The conference discusses a distinguished collection of research papers with the participation of a select group of professors and researchers from various Egyptian universities.
Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Department of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine is organizing its 16th annual conference, which started on Tuesday, February 18, and continues for two days, under the title "Development and Leadership in the Future of Medical Analytical Science", under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, and Dr. Hisham Abdel Rahim, Head of the Department.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy explained that the conference discusses, through its sessions and research, topics related to all that is new in the field of medical analysis, keeping up with the challenges it faces, and artificial intelligence in marrow transplantation, stressing the role of the Faculty of Medicine and its continuous efforts to continue development and leadership in medical sciences to serve the community and promote scientific research, which contributes to raising the university's ranking and elevating it to the ranks of advanced universities, adding that the conference witnesses the participation of a group of professors and researchers from various Egyptian universities.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Gamal Badr, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Amany Omar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. The event was organized by Dr. Hanan Galal, General Secretary of the Conference, with Dr. Heba Ahmed and Dr. Soheir Kamel as Conference Coordinators, with the participation of professors and researchers in the Department of Clinical Pathology from various Egyptian universities.
Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem praised the distinguished and fruitful role of the department and its integration with all other medical specialties, which is a confirmation of encouraging interdisciplinary and accurate research, which contributes to improving the level of medical and therapeutic services provided to patients, wishing all participants to benefit from the conference events and its fruitful scientific sessions.
Dr. Alaa Attia explained: The Department of Clinical Pathology is the main support for the medical service of Assiut University hospitals, and one of the prominent strengths of the Faculty of Medicine, due to its highly accredited laboratories, which comply with the highest international standards and specifications, as well as its important role in serving medical work and serving the community.
Dr. Hisham Abdel Rahim noted that the Department of Clinical Pathology, with all its main and specialized units, is working on continuous modernization to keep pace with the rapid development in the mechanisms of international medical analysis, in addition Dr. Hisham Abdel Rahim said that the laboratories in its various units provide many services to patients in Upper Egypt, as well as participation in presidential initiatives and diagnostic services for faculty members and university employees.
The conference chair also mentioned that the department successfully obtained accreditation from three bodies: the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) in 2022, renewed in 2024; the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) in 2023; and the College of American Pathologists (CAP) in December 2024.
For her part, Dr. Hanan Galal pointed out that the two-day conference will discuss several scientific sessions on: The role of immunology in meningitis, coagulation diseases, blood transfusion, chemistry in various diseases, new in multiple sclerosis, laboratory diagnosis of fertility diseases, microbiology, bladder cancer diseases,and the latest developments in laboratory diagnostics for various diseases.
