Dr. El-Minshawy: journalism and media have an important role in promoting sustainable development and building community awareness
Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, and within the framework of enhancing cooperation between the University and the Journalists Syndicate, Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mawla, vice-president for education and Student Affairs, participated in the group Iftar ceremony organized by the sub-committee of the Journalists Syndicate in Assiut, which was held at the Wataniya hotel on Monday, March 17.
The ceremony was attended by Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, governor of Assiut, Mr. Wael Samir, chairman of the sub-committee of the Assiut Journalists Syndicate, Mr. Younis Darwish, Mr. Haitham El-Badri, the committee's undersecretaries, a number of journalists and governorate leaders.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University is keen to participate in this collective breakfast to enhance the spirit of cooperation and communication between the members of the Journalists Syndicate and the leaders of the University and the governorate, adding that the press and the media play an important role in conveying the truth and highlighting societal issues of concern to citizens, which enhances the role of the media as an effective tool in shaping public opinion, explaining that the press contributes greatly to enhancing communication between the executive authorities and society, and also contribute to achieving sustainable development by providing accurate and scientifically based information. He added that the role of the press is not only to convey news, but also to guide officials towards improving performance in various fields, in addition to its vital role in building community awareness and reducing social problems.
For their side, the attendees expressed their appreciation to the Journalists Syndicate and all its members under the leadership of journalist Khaled Al-Balshi, captain of journalists, stressing the role of journalism in promoting awareness and building community awareness. They also noted the importance of highlighting achievements in various fields, expressing their aspiration for further cooperation with press and media institutions.
At the end of the breakfast, the journalists affirmed their full support for the leaders of the National Action in all state institutions, expressing their support for all those who contribute to serving the people of Assiut in various fields. They also expressed the support of the journalists syndicate for the efforts of the Egyptian state in preserving the capabilities of the homeland and the single national fabric, and the implementation of sustainable development plans throughout the country.
In conclusion, the journalists thanked and appreciated the leaders of the governorate and the University for their response to the journalists and the immediate answer to their questions.
