- Prof. El-Minshawy confirms Assiut University's keenness to provide all aspects of support, care, and encouragement to people of determination
- Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mawla, vice president for education and Student Affairs, about the achievements of the Center for the Care of Students with disabilities, where the university paid great attention to their care, under the supervision of Dr. Omnia Abdul-Kader, director of the center, and Dr. Jamal Al-Sawy, managing director of the center.
- Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawyy praised the successes and multiple singularities achieved by the University's students of determination, and their ability to participate effectively in various student activities, and to represent the University in an honorable manner at all levels; local, regional, and International, which reflects the magnitude of efforts exerted by Assiut University in supporting its students of determination, by providing integrated services to its children with disabilities.
- The report pointed out that students with disabilities received several medals and Awards, where students won (20) various medals, including (8) gold medals, (8) silver medals, and( 4) bronze medals; in( athletics, table tennis, and weightlifting), during their honorable participation; at the sports meeting" Egyptian universities Paralympics for students and students with disabilities", which was held in the youth City of biker in Alexandria, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Central Sports Development Department), in cooperation with Directorate of youth and sports in Alexandria, under the slogan: (We are a life).
- Students of the University with special needs received (4) prizes in the Golden Talent Competition for people with special abilities, in its seventh season, which is organized by the cultural development fund sector in cooperation with the Balad Al-Youm Society for Development, under the supervision of the Ministry of culture, namely first place awards in the religious singing competition, and second place for: choir Team, solo singing, and solo singing (second category).
- The report stressed the University's keenness to support students of determination in various forms, as they were completely exempted financially from tuition fees, university city fees, sports activities fees, etc., and they were also supported academically, and integrated into various student activities and social events, contributing to their success in their future working lives.
- The report referred to the statement issued by the Supreme Council of universities; and the acquisition of the Center for the Care of Students with disabilities, Assiut University; the first place in the total student activities, provided for people with special needs, at the level of Egyptian universities; where the center provided 99 diverse activities, during the academic year 2024/2025.
- The University's efforts also included the participation of Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy; the closing events of the first edition of the initiative" Empowering University Students with Determination", which was held under the supervision of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, president of the Republic, at the maritime monastery" Hatshepsut temple " in Luxor, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of higher education and scientific research, several Ministers, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, secretary general of the Supreme Council of universities, several university presidents, and senior public figures, and in the presence of 562 students.
- The report stressed the University's participation in the Tamkeen initiative implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with the global campaign "Donors of Hope", to increase the base of student participation in various activities, and collaboration in the preparation and qualification of cadres of them; to become qualified, trained and able to participate in the process of community building and participate in conducting research, studies, and conferences related to issues of youth with determination.
- The report pointed out that Assiut University organized several activities, training, and workshops to develop the skills of people of determination, within the framework of the Tamkeen initiative, and in conjunction with the celebration of the International Day of People of Determination, which was implemented by the Center for caring for students with disabilities at the University; in the fields of sports, singing, theater, plastic arts, photoshop, graphic, life skills, and mobile.
- The report monitored the center's efforts in the field of sports activities, a sports day was organized, and about 100 male and female students with disabilities were trained, at the Olympic Village at the university, by coaches specialized in sports training for people with disabilities, throughout the year, on average 3 times a week, and they practice several sports including athletics, weightlifting, fitness, swimming, Bell Ball, and table tennis.
- The center also organized technical activities and training for talented people in the field of singing, which the center continues to manage throughout the year, to train the members of the center's choir "chromatic", numbering about (30) male and female students, from various disabilities, to sing individually, collectively, religious chanting, as well as playing multiple musical instruments, the team participates in many events organized by Assiut University and also participated in several television programs, as well as a lot of events at the level of the Republic.
- The center also held a training workshop on performing arts, which is held throughout the year, where about (30) students of various disabilities are trained, including hearing disabilities, where deaf people are trained to perform expressive movements inside the theatrical performance, and this year the center's students participate in the festival of theatrical creativity with the play (El-Wagash), which discusses the problem (revenge).
- The Center organized a plastic arts training workshop for amateur students and students with disabilities, numbering (50) from various disabilities, as part of the ongoing workshops throughout the year, to train them in the arts of gouache painting, acrylic, printing, paper, wooden, bead works, fabric, and others. The Center organizes an annual exhibition of students ' works, in addition to the participation of students with their works of art, in various exhibitions, including the exhibition of the forum "I Can".
- The center also organized a specialized training course in graphic design to enhance students ' skills in graphic design using the latest technologies, which contributes to their qualification for the labor market, by introducing participants to the basics of graphic design and its most famous programs, as well as design applications in multiple fields such as magazines, advertising, and packaging products, the duration of the training course is one and a half months, and included (25) students, from various disabilities, except for visual impairment.
- The center held a training course in digital transformation; for its students of determination with visual disabilities; in implementation of the vision of the Egyptian state, which is moving towards digital transformation in its various sectors in full, and also puts people of determination at the forefront of its interests, the training course included (25) a student and a student with visual disabilities, and lasts for (3) months, and is implemented by the trainer; Hadeer Mahmoud, and received training courses from" AMIDEAST", and" UNICEF"; to train the visually impaired on modern technologies.
- The center also organized a training course on life skills, where students were divided into groups to attend the training course, and each group included (20) students from different disabilities, they were trained in various life skills, which include; the art of success in life, self-confidence, respect for diversity, empathy, participation, cooperation, flexibility, communication with others, along with innovation skills, problem-solving, negotiation, decision-making, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, as well as resume writing skills, how to succeed in a personal interview for a job or funding for a project.
- The center has also trained about 40 male and female students; on the activity of Rangers and public service through the training centers that it holds throughout the year, and participates in the "kaderun" clan, which is the first clan of Rangers of determination at the level of Egyptian universities, in various scouting activities, the latest of which is the Scout course (43) guidance (29) at Assiut University; where the clan (14) included rangers, and Rangers with various disabilities.
- The report indicated that the second phase of the “Gap Analysis” workshop was organized in cooperation with Amideast, within the framework of the agreement between Amideast and Assiut University, as part of the Higher Education Initiative, which includes: Establishing and developing service centers for students with disabilities in Egyptian public universities, including Assiut University.
- The workshop aimed to study and evaluate the status of students with special abilities at the university, since the establishment of the Center for the Care of Students with Disabilities, until now; to know the extent of their development, achieve a greater understanding of their needs, and mechanisms to implement them, and provide a detailed report to the university administration on the current status of the center; so that the university can meet these needs and achieve full integration into the university community.
- The report also referred to the visit of the delegation of the National Council for Human Rights to the Center for the Care of Students with Disabilities, as part of the activities of their visit to the university to attend the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Center for Human Rights Studies and Research, where the delegation praised the efforts made by the Assiut University administration to activate the role of the Center for the Care of Students with Disabilities at the university and provide integrated services and programs to help them adapt to their university environment and integrate them with their peers.
