Prof. El- Minshawy: The conference aims to provide scientific solutions to environmental challenges and support cooperation with concerned authorities to promote sustainable environmental practices
Under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, the second International Conference of Biological Sciences, entitled"innovative solutions in biology for a sustainable future", kicked off today, Monday, February 17, organized by the Departments of Botany, Microbiology, Zoology and entomology at the Faculty of science, Assiut University, and extended over two days on February 17 and 18, under the supervision of Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and research, Dr. Abdul Hamid Abu Sahli, dean of the Faculty of Science and chairman of the conference, and Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Tayeb, vice dean of the Faculty of Science for graduate Studies and Research and Secretary General of the conference.
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the importance of the theme of the conference, which aims to provide scientific solutions to environmental challenges, support cooperation between stakeholders, promote sustainable environmental practices, protect the environment, combat climate change, confront the loss of biodiversity, achieve food and water security, spread the culture of sustainable agriculture, in addition to encouraging innovation and creative thinking of young researchers to address various environmental challenges to reach a safe and sustainable future.
Dr. Jamal Badr pointed to the distinguished role of the Faculty of Science in the field of international publishing, explaining that the Faculty of science has achieved 30% of International Publishing at the level of the Republic, and this reflects its educational and research leadership, stressing admiration for the theme of the conference, which discusses more important and vital aspects in the file of sustainable development, and this is a special opportunity for researchers specialized in the fields of Biological Sciences to exchange visions and ideas to enrich their scientific research and make a real difference in the file of sustainable development.
Dr. Abdul Hamid Abu Sahli sincerely thanked the university administration for its unlimited support to the College of Science in organizing many scientific events and meetings, stressing that the conference is an important step towards research integration between the Departments of the college to reach solutions and applications that contribute to addressing environmental challenges that hinder the achievement of sustainability, wishing all participants in the conference faculty members from inside and outside the university more progress and advancement.
Dr. Abubakar Al-Tayeb stressed that the conference will discuss several topics over the course of two days, the most important of which are environmental biotechnology for pollution and waste management, marine biology and ocean sustainability, environmental toxicology and environmental impacts, biotechnology for Sustainable Development, biofuels and biomaterials for sustainability, sustainable management of pests and biocides, stem cell therapy, drug resistance and Disease Control.
Dr. Naima Hammam explained that the second edition of the conference witnessed the participation of (140) researchers with more than (50) papers, discussing the latest scientific research contributions focused on sustainability issues, praising the role of researchers in active scientific participation, and invited them to benefit from the conference's themes, which include multiple issues including climate change, biodiversity, water resources management and others.
The opening of the conference was witnessed by the presence of Dr. Mohamed Aboualayoun, vice dean of the college for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Naima Mohamed Hammam Youssef, head of the Department of Botany and Microbiology, Dr. Mona Mohamed Attiya, head of the Department of animals and insects, the conference's rapporteurs, faculty members from the faculties of science at various universities from inside and outside Egypt, and researchers from research and medical centers and institutions.
