Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, the university organized today, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, a training workshop entitled "field review techniques for the criteria of the best eco-friendly college competition 2024/2025", which aimed to train field review teams in preparation for the implementation of competition visits, to enhance the concepts of sustainability and support outstanding environmental practices within the University's colleges.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the efforts of sustainability and expansion of targeted environmental practices, explaining that the competition has the participation of 21 colleges and institutes, which reflects the importance of this event in spreading environmental awareness within the university community. He also pointed out that the university is working to promote a culture of environmental awareness, and the competition is an important step to motivate colleges to apply effective environmental practices and contribute to improving the university work environment.
Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president of the University for community service and environmental development, explained that the workshop aimed to introduce the teams to the mechanisms of implementing field visits, with an explanation of the evaluation tools adopted in the competition, pointing to the importance of the workshop in controlling the standards of visits and standardizing evaluation procedures within all colleges, he also stressed that this training represents an essential step to ensure fair and objective evaluation, and achieve the objectives of the competition in upgrading the environmental level of participating colleges.
During the workshop, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Hamad, professor at the College of education and the general coordinator of the competition, gave a detailed explanation of the steps of implementing the field visits, starting from holding a meeting with the college administration and the work team, through providing a video and a presentation on the college's efforts to meet the criteria of the competition, defining the tasks of the team members and accurately distributing roles, in addition to determining the schedule of field visits, reviewing the tools needed to collect and analyze data, and also discussed how to assess the infrastructure, risk management, and the working environment of the participating colleges.
Dr. Amr said Deif, professor at the Faculty of Science and executive coordinator of the competition, also presented the evaluation axes related to energy and Water Management, Waste Management, and transportation steps, and the aesthetic appearance of the College, in addition to presenting some applied models that can be used during field visits.
It is planned that the field audit teams will begin carrying out their scheduled visits to the colleges participating in the competition starting from Monday, July 14, 2025, according to an approved schedule, to ensure that all the prescribed procedures are met accurately and with discipline.
The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and administrative leaders participating in the implementation of the competition, namely: Dr. Mohammed Abdul Basit, vice dean of the College of specific education for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Awad Ibrahim Mohammed Sayed, professor at the College of Science, Dr. Marianne Milad Mansour, professor at the College of Education, Dr. Amr Hassan Abu fedan, assistant professor at the College of Medicine and deputy director of the International Classification Office, Dr. Al-Hajjaj Ahmed Hassan Ali, assistant professor at the College of Science, Dr. Sanaa Mohammed Zahran Omar, assistant professor at the College of Social Work, Dr. Amal Ali Mahmoud Sultan, Professor Assistant at the Faculty of Education, Dr. Randa Yousef Mohammed Sultan, assistant professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Walid Eid Mustafa Abdullah, teacher at the Faculty of Commerce, Dr. Mahmoud Jamal al-Din al-Qadi, teacher at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mr. Osama al-Sayed Mahmoud, Assistant Secretary General of the University, Mr. Ayman Ahmed Shehata, assistant secretary general of the University.
