- Dr. El-Minshawy: supporting scientific research is a priority and Assiut University continues its march towards universality
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, praised the inclusion of the Journal of Engineering Sciences (Journal of Engineering Sciences), issued by the Faculty of Engineering, in the Scopus global database, considering this an international achievement reflecting the continuous development achieved by the University in the field of scientific research.
Dr. El-Minshawy stressed that this success represents a strong addition to the University's position in international rankings, and reflects the journal's commitment to the standards of prestigious scientific publishing, which contributes to enhancing the University's academic reputation globally.
The president of the university also congratulated the curators of the journal, praising their efforts in achieving this achievement, stressing that the university will continue to support scientific research and academic journals to raise the standards of international publishing, and enhance research cooperation with international scientific institutions.
Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and Research Affairs, pointed out that this achievement will contribute to raising the scientific citation rates of research published in the Journal, which enhances the research classification of the University, and opens new horizons for researchers to publish their studies in prestigious international platforms.
For his side, Dr. Khaled Salah, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, explained that the journal is issued by the Graduate Studies and research sector at the faculty, and is subject to strict criteria in scientific arbitration, which enabled it to join Scopus, after passing all the requirements of scientific evaluation.
Dr. Shehata El-Dabaa, vice dean for graduate studies and research, added that the efforts to join the journal to Scopus began since 2020, by hosting it on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and applying the latest scientific publishing management systems. After submitting an application for membership in June 2024, the journal underwent a comprehensive assessment by the Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board, to be officially accredited and included in the database from 2022.
He stressed that the journal is now seeking to join the web of Science (Clarivate) database, thereby strengthening its position as a global research platform for researchers in various engineering fields.
