Dr. El-Minshawy calls on Assiut University students to adopt the values of fair play and make it a lifestyle inside and outside the University

On the nineteenth of May every year, the world celebrates the World Fair Play Day, which was approved by the United Nations to emphasize the importance of sport as a soft force contributing to building societies and consolidating the principles of tolerance, respect, rejection of violence and discrimination.

On this occasion, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, extended an invitation to the University's students to be ambassadors of noble sports values, and to make fair play an approach in their behavior inside and outside the university, to be role models embodying the true meaning of sports and teaching a culture of respect and tolerance in society. He also paid tribute to all those who contribute to the dissemination of these values, whether individuals or institutions.

Dr. El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University pays great attention to supporting the principles of fair play, based on its firm conviction that sport is not just a way to compete, but a human and moral message that contributes to building character and formulating values.

In this context, the Olympic Village at Assiut University represents a leading model at the level of Egyptian universities, with its integrated sports facilities that provide an ideal environment to promote a culture of fair play and disciplined and safe sports practice for all members of the university community.

The president of the University explained that the concept of Fair Play is not limited to stadiums, but reflects a comprehensive vision of a society characterized by ethics, integrity and equality, which the University seeks to consolidate within its corridors through a positive academic climate, student activities that integrate honest competition, character building and enhancing team spirit and affiliation.

He also pointed out that the university pays special attention to the field of physical education and sports, and focuses on providing opportunities for all students, including those with disabilities, to participate in sports activities within an inclusive and safe environment, believing in the role of sports in achieving equality and empowerment.

These efforts are in line with the goals celebrated on the International Fair Play Day, and with Assiut University's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially in the areas of good health, quality education, gender equality, reducing inequalities, and promoting peace and Justice.
