Assiut University Council announces its candidacy for its former president to win the State Appreciation Award in Medical Sciences

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, Acting President of Assiut University, announced the approval of the University Council, in its session held for the month of November 2022, to nominate Dr. Tariq El-Gammal, the former university president and full-time professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the Faculty of Medicine, to win the State Appreciation Award in Medical Sciences 2022. 

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stated that this decision is based on the memorandum submitted by the Council of the Faculty of Medicine and in appreciation from the University Council for what the former President of Assiut University represents as an outstanding scientific value in the international medical community. The former president succeeded in establishing the first school for microscopic surgery and the nerve plexus in the Middle East, which made Assiut University an international center for training doctors from various Arab and foreign countries on this complex type of surgery. 

The President of Assiut University revealed that the university council also nominated several professors to win the state awards for the year 2022 in various fields. The nomination included: Dr. Abu Zaid, Professor Emeritus, Department of Chemistry, faculty of Science, to win the State Appreciation Prize in Basic Sciences; Dr. Hatem Mohamed Toghan Suleiman, Professor of Aquatic Biology, faculty of Veterinary Medicine, to win the State Appreciation Prize in Agricultural Sciences; Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Azim Talab, Emeritus Professor, Department of Economics and Public Finance, Faculty of Commerce to win the state award for excellence in social sciences; and Dr. Ahmed Kamal Abdel-Wahhab El-Bahnasawy, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at the College of Arts, to win the state award for excellence in social sciences.
