Dr. El-Minshawy Launches a Major Celebration Tomorrow Under the Title "Assiut University and Our Green Future" in Preparation for the Cop27 Conference

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, Acting President of Assiut University, announced that he will launch tomorrow, Tuesday 1/11/2022, a major celebration under the title “Assiut University and Our Green Future”. The celebration coincides with the Egyptian state preparations to host the Climate Conference Cop27 this month, which is scheduled to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh in the period from 6 to 18 November, with the participation of a large crowd of leaders from more than 197 countries from all over the world.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stated that the celebration of "Assiut University and Our Green Future" comes from its belief in the role of scientific and research institutions in presenting a scientific vision on climate issues, educating young people about environmental risks, and introducing the efforts of the Egyptian presidency aimed at reducing environmental problems and consolidating the pillars of sustainable development. Moreover, Dr. El-Minshawy explained that the celebration is scheduled to include the announcement of November of each year as the environment month at Assiut University.
Dr. Maha Ghanem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and the General Supervisor of organizing the celebration, stated that the celebration begins tomorrow, Tuesday, and extends throughout the month of November, in coordination and cooperation with the students and education sector headed by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Moula, Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs. She added that tomorrow's celebration will include the launch of the climate marathon under the supervision of the Faculty of Physical Education, then the line-up of the university administration, members of the university council, and faculty members and participants. The line-up includes the participation of more than a thousand students from various university faculties in front of the administrative building, wearing t-shirts with the celebration's logo.
Dr. Maha Ghanem added that it to be followed by the president of the university and the attendees inspecting the presentations of sustainable development projects that are displayed in the inner lobby of the administrative building, then planting a tree symbolizing the celebration in front of the building, then a quick tour of the university faculties to review their various environmental activities in celebration of this day.  The activities include environmental projects, exhibitions or artwork expressive of the environment within the framework of the major competition launched by the sector under the title "Students of the Climate" in order to provide an opportunity for university students to express various climate issues according to their own vision.
It is scheduled that the evening period will include lighting the university in green color that expresses the environment, which will extend throughout the month of November. The evening party also includes an artistic concert with a variety of performances such as the dance skirt, a tableau of folk arts and a musical concert by the band of the Department of Musical Education at the Faculty of Specific Education.
