Dr. El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University participates in the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities at Hurghada University 

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, participated in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of universities, which was held on Saturday at the headquarters of Hurghada University, chaired by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of higher education and scientific research, and in the presence of Dr. Mustafa Rifaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of universities, university presidents and council members.

 

 Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the council discussed during its meeting a number of important topics, including following up on the ongoing preparations for the end-of-the-second semester exams for the current academic year, as well as emphasizing the early readiness for coordinating university admissions for the academic year 2025. The meeting also discussed the reports of several committees concerned with the development of the university education system.

 

The council congratulated His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the president of the Republic, the armed forces, and the Egyptian people on the occasion of the celebration of the forty-third anniversary of the liberation of Sinai. The council also expressed its thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for his great support to the higher education system in Sinai, which has witnessed a great renaissance over the past ten years with a total investment of 23 billion pounds in the establishment of public, private and technological universities, which contributes to meeting the development needs in Sinai.

 

During the meeting, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of higher education and scientific research, stressed the importance of the readiness of universities and institutes for the end-of-year exams, with the need to announce the schedules early to ensure the organization of the exams, and the regular attendance of faculty members, the auxiliary body and administrative staff throughout the exam period to ensure its orderly conduct.

 

Dr. Ayman Ashour also stressed the need to intensify awareness-raising efforts to familiarize students with the challenges facing Egyptian national security, through organizing seminars and hosting influential national figures, in order to enhance students ' awareness.

 

In another context, Dr. Ayman Ashour pointed out the need to activate the "Tamkeen" initiative to support students of determination, highlight their talents and abilities, and work to fully integrate them into the university community, announcing the establishment of a central unit at the Ministry of higher education to coordinate with universities in this file.

 

The minister also stressed the importance of enhancing efforts to attract international students to study at Egyptian universities, pointing out that the ministry is implementing an ambitious plan to confirm Egypt's leadership as a distinguished regional and international educational destination, taking advantage of the distinguished human and scientific potentials possessed by Egyptian universities.

 

During the meeting, the council reviewed a report on the activities of the Ministry of Higher Education and scientific research during April, in addition to a presentation made by Dr. Rasha Sharaf, secretary general of the Education Development Fund under the presidency of the Council of ministers, addressing the Cisco academic courses, training programs available to students, mechanisms to enhance cooperation between the fund and universities within the "Be Ready" initiative, in addition to reviewing the scientific disciplines required for the global labor market.

 

The council also listened to a presentation by Dr. Omar Salem, director of the Electronic and Knowledge Services Center at the Supreme Council of Universities, on the electronic platform for community service and environmental development, and its role in recording the achievements of universities in this field, as well as alliances between universities and civil society and industrial institutions, and presented plans for universities in this sector.
