The President of Assiut University and Dr. Khaled Al-Attas Meet with Young Doctors to Discuss Medical Cases.
Assiut University President appreciates the noble goal of the visit to exchange experiences and medical insights in the field of pediatric cardiology.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, received today, Sunday, February 23, Dr. Khaled Amin Al-Attas, Interventional Pediatric Cardiology Consultant and Head of the Umm Al-Qura Cardiac Center at Maternity and Children’s Hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The visit is part of the medical and academic cooperation between the university and specialized medical centers, aimed at discussing pediatric cardiac catheterization cases at the Pediatric Cardiology Unit of the University Heart Hospital and exploring the best therapeutic and surgical techniques for these cases.
The President of Assiut University emphasized that this visit aligns with efforts to enhance academic and medical collaboration, contributing to the development of healthcare services. He highlighted that Assiut University boasts a fully integrated medical city with multiple specialties, offering pioneering and exceptional healthcare services in some of the most complex medical fields while also providing outstanding medical education for young doctors.
Dr. El-Minshawy presented a commemorative shield to Dr. Khaled Amin Al-Attas, praising the noble purpose of his valuable visit to the university, which aims to exchange experiences and modern medical visions in the fields of pediatric cardiology and get a close look at the medical services provided at the University Heart Hospital, as the largest hospital in Upper Egypt for the treatment of heart diseases, where thousands of patients receive treatment, examination and perform the most accurate heart surgery operations with high efficiency.
Dr. El-Minshawy accompanied his guest, an expert in pediatric cardiology, Dr. Khaled Al-Attas, on an inspection tour of the University Heart Hospital, where he was welcomed by Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Dr. Mohamed Ayyad, Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of the University Heart Hospital, and Dr. Ahmed Salah El-Din Qaraa, Supervisor of the University Olympic Village.
The visit included an inspection of the hospital’s lecture halls, the echocardiography unit, the radiology and pacemaker unit, and the cardiology consultant clinic. Additionally, the tour covered the hospital’s cardiac catheterization unit and its associated rooms, as well as the Pediatric Cardiology Unit, which houses state-of-the-art equipment and technologies specialized in pediatric heart conditions.
Dr. Al-Attas also met with a group of young doctors to review and discuss several medical cases, exchanging perspectives on the latest treatment methods and surgical techniques. He praised the high level of expertise among the young medical professionals and emphasized the importance of ongoing training and development to enhance their knowledge and skills in cardiac surgery.
During the visit, Dr. Al-Attas attended an introductory video presentation on the Pediatric Cardiology Unit at the hospital, held in Dr. Samir Abdel Qader Conference Hall. The presentation detailed the unit’s history, starting at the main university hospital in 1996 before moving to the University Children’s Hospital in 2004, and later relocating to the University Heart Hospital in 2016. The unit consists of six inpatient rooms, three intensive care rooms, and 22 beds, including six intermediate care beds, 12 monitoring devices, 26 infusion pumps, three defibrillators, six ventilators, a pediatric anesthesia machine, and two echocardiography machines for children.
The visit also included a tour of the new University Oncology Hospital project, and a review of the ongoing work and the executive stages of the project, as one of the important national projects. The project is being built on an area of 15,000 square meters and is scheduled to be implemented in three gradual phases, to include all medical and therapeutic services needed for oncology patients, in addition to nursing units, diagnostic and therapeutic departments, and all auxiliary services.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Attas expressed his deep appreciation and honor in being hosted by Assiut University. He commended the collaborative efforts to advance medical practice and implement the latest diagnostic and treatment techniques in pediatric cardiology, especially in light of the university's advanced medical capabilities and equipment, and specialized units in line with the highest international quality levels.
