In The First Annual Scientific Conferenceof Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Center

The President of Assiut University States: • Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Center is the First of its kind in the Regional Universities • A Vital Role of Assiut University in Offering Advanced Health Services for the Citizens  In Assiut University was inaugurated the First Annual Scientific Conference of Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Center under the auspices of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, President of Assiut University, Dr. Maher El-Assal Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Egyptian Society for heart surgery and chest. In his speech at the opening Session, The President of the University praised the role of the Faculty of Medicine, for the faculty's effective community service and efforts in public health problems for millions of people in Upper Egypt, pointing out in this regard that Assiut University, is the first university established a regional unit for Cardiothoracic surgery. The center was established for serving the increasing numbers of children with birth defects, and provided opportunities for training new cadres inside and outside Egypt to join the system to work with the availability of the elements of excellence in which the Center provides the ability to compete domestically and regionally. For his part, Dr. Ahmed Minshawi, the head of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Center of the Pediatrics' University Hospital and President of the Conference stated that the conference will discuss over two days several issues, including Surgery of congenital heart diseases, Anesthesia of Paediatrics Cardiothoracic Surgery, Postoperative care of pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Patients, Medical and surgical management of valvular heart diseases in paediatric population, Thoracic diseases in paediatric patients, Bronchoscopy in paediatric age group, Cardiopulmonary bypass management in neonates infants and children, and Top quality management in paediatric cardiothoracic. The conference was attended by constellation of professors and experts and pediatricians at the University of Assiut, and the Egyptian universities, noting that the unit activity and will receive a U.S. convoy treatment during the period from February 27 Until March 12, 2010.
