The president of Assiut University hosts a consultant of neurosurgeon at Kuopio University in Finland within the framework of the protocol of cooperation with Kuopio University

 
Prof.El-Minshawy: Assiut University is keen to build partnerships with various foreign universities to develop services provided to patients and improve healthcare

 Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, received today, Wednesday 11 December; Dr. Susanna Rantala, consultant at neurosurgeon department , Kuopio University, Eastern Finland, within the framework of her scientific visit to Assiut University; to participate in several scientific and medical events related to the field of medicine, neurosurgery, and exchange experiences on the latest technologies and treatment protocols followed in this field.

The second of its kind, from the Finnish side, which is carried out within the framework of the cooperation protocol between Assiut University, represented by the Department of Neurosurgery, and Kuopio University, in Eastern Finland, listed under the Erasmus Plus program (Erasmus+), funded by the European Union, which was concluded in December 2022 and continues until July 2025.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Alaa Attiyah, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Mohammed Abdulbasit Khalaf, Director of the Hospital of Neuropsychiatric Diseases and Neurosurgery, Dr. Khalid Abdul Aziz, director of the University Hospital President, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hamid, lecturer at the Department of Neurosurgery, and coordinator of the Erasmus agreement (Erasmus).

During the meeting, prof. El-Minshawy praised the keenness of the Finnish side to continue cooperation and coordination with the University at various scientific and medical levels to find out about the latest developments and advanced therapeutic techniques in brain and neurological diseases, exchange experiences, and transfer advanced technology between the two parties, welcoming all partnerships and agreements that contribute to strengthening relations with foreign universities, taking advantage of their knowledge and new experiences, which is reflected in the development of the level of services provided to patients visiting University Hospitals, and improving all aspects of health care.

Prof. El-Minshawy stressed: that Assiut University has an integrated, multidisciplinary medical City, and provides pioneering and unique medical services for all patients, in the most difficult and complex medical specialties, as well as outstanding medical education for young doctors, pointing out that the university has achieved major achievements in the development of its University Hospitals; whether at the level of development, replacement, or the establishment of new hospitals, pointing out that the Erasmus program; supports the development work in higher education in partner countries, and encourage cooperation between institutions, through the exchange of experiences among them, and in the European Union.

For her side, Dr. Susana Rantala expressed her deep appreciation for her presence at Assiut University, participating in multiple events in the field of brain surgery, neurology, especially pediatric neurosurgery, and dealing with newborn cases with birth defects, which represents an opportunity to benefit and learn about new protocols in treatment.

Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hamid said: that the visit to the Finnish side extended during the period from 8 To 13 from December, and included the participation of Dr. Susanna Rantala in a scientific symposium, during which she gave a lecture on: "the use of physiological planning during neurosurgical operations," and reviewed how to perform high-precision operations to remove tumors, while preserving the vital functions of the patient, as well as her participation in several surgical operations, and daily activities in the Department.
