* prof.El-Minshawy: Assiut University has achieved significant progress among educational institutions globally in the ranking .. It excels in the field of impact on society in the environmental, social and governance aspects
Prof. Ahmed El - Minshawy, president of Assiut University, declared a new achievement for Assiut University in the global rankings, where the University came in the QS Sustainability ranking for 2025 - the English classification of sustainable development standards-at the 653rd place globally, out of 1,744 educational institutions included in the ranking for this year, with an advance of 168 levels from the previous year, in addition to; obtaining the fifth Egyptian rank out of (26) Egyptian universities included in the ranking.
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy expressed his pride in the new achievement made by the University in one of the major international rankings that evaluate universities according to their impact on society, in environmental, social, and governance aspects, pointing out that the University's progress in the QS sustainability ranking for 2025 is an important achievement that confirms its tireless efforts in the field of sustainable development, and its commitment to the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainability, explaining that the element of "sustainability" is one of the most important principles of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, which paid great attention to; activating the role of universities, and higher education institutions are generally at the service of society and the surrounding environment.
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president of the University for community service Affairs and environmental development, praised the University's progress (168) levels in the QS sustainability rating compared to last year, pointing out that this is a result of the University's interest and response to the challenges of the environment and society, through linking the educational and research process with the environment and society, and adapting them to find effective and sustainable solutions to various environmental and societal problems, which is in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Omar Shaaban, director of the international academic classification Bureau, explained that the QS sustainability rating depends in its assessment of universities on the sum of the scores of each university in three categories; the first category is; environmental impact, which Assiut University has achieved the rank (653) globally, and includes three indicators, namely:( sustainability of educational institutions, sustainability of education, sustainability of scientific research); the second category includes; social impact; in which the university has achieved the rank (922) globally; and includes ( 5 )indicators, namely:( equality, knowledge exchange, impact of education, employment, opportunities and quality of life, and third, it is related to governance, and the University ranked (358) globally.
