Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, pointed to Assiut University's keenness to raise awareness of the need to pay attention to mental health, which greatly affects the quality of life and personal development, pointing out that whenever an individual's mental health is in a positive state, the individual will be able to cope with the pressures of life and achieve psychological satisfaction.
Within this framework, the community service and environmental development sector at the University, in cooperation with the National Council for women in Assiut, organized a convoy to support women's mental health in (3) from the villages of Assiut governorate, including Bani Hussein village, Awlad raiq village, and mesra village, within the framework of the "A new beginning; to build a human being" initiative, under the supervision of: Prof.Mahmoud Abdul Alim, vice president of the University for community service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Iman Abdul Aal, acting dean of the faculty, Dr. Marwa Kadwani, rapporteur of the National Council for women in Assiut, Dr. Mohamed Hussein Saleh, a lecturer at the faculty of Social Work, and the coordinator of the psychological convoy at the Start initiative, with the participation of: Mr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, coordinator of the National Council for women in Assiut, and a student delegation that included (10) female students of the faculty of social work.
The caravan targeted (150) A woman and a girl in the three villages, to raise awareness of the need to pay attention to mental health, especially for girls, and shed light on the psychological problems facing them among the negative effects of early marriage, and also addressed the caravan; the importance of women's reproductive health, and the need to combat female genital mutilation, during which some psychological and social problems resulting from life pressures were presented, while clarifying some concepts to avoid marital problems.
Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Alim pointed out that Assiut University is keen to actively participate in the president of the Republic's initiative for Human Development "a new beginning; to build a human being", and in this context, the community service and environmental development sector at the university is keen to play a major role in serving community members, especially in the villages and centers of Assiut Governorate, in various health, psychological, social and awareness fields, with the participation of faculty members and students, and in cooperation with the competent authorities.
