A medical team at the South Egypt Institute of oncology, Assiut University succeeds in removing a huge tumor behind the peritoneum of the abdomen of a fortieth woman

Assiut University, headed by Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, continues its achievements and successes in the medical field, where a medical team at the South Egypt Institute of oncology at the University succeeded in performing a successful resection of a huge tumor behind the peritoneum of the abdomen for a patient aged 40 year, under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Attiyah, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and chairman of the board of University Hospitals, Dr. Mohammed Abu el-Magd, dean of the Institute, Dr. Doaa Wadie, head of the oncology surgery department at the Institute, and Dr. Ibrahim Abu el-Oyoun, director of the University oncology hospital.

 congratulated the medical team at the South Egypt Institute of oncology for its success in performing this surgical operation and removing the huge tumor, which reaches 30×27 cm, pointing out that this success is added to the record of successes of the Institute, which is recognized for its efficiency and the excellence of its medical staff; and its abilities to perform the most difficult, complex, and accurate surgical operations.

The president of Assiut University stressed that the university administration is keen to raise the efficiency of the medical services provided at the institute to provide the best level of therapeutic services for patients, which is shown in providing the necessary medical and therapeutic capabilities to treat oncology patients visiting the institute from various governorates of Upper Egypt.

The South Egypt Institute of oncology had received the patient's case-two months ago - and she was suffering from swelling, bloating in the abdomen, and by conducting tests and radiology; a huge tumor was discovered, pressing on the right kidney, pancreas, arteries, and main abdominal veins, and extended to the pelvic area, and the tumor was completely removed, and the right kidney; to preserve the patient's health.

The medical team that supervised the surgery included Dr. Ahmed Awad Sayed, professor at the department, Dr. Abdul Rahman Kamel Fathi, assistant teacher at the department, Dr. Islam Hassan, teaching assistant at the department, Dr. Abdul Bari Jamal, teaching assistant at the department, and Dr. Islam Amer, resident physician.

The anesthesia team of the operation included Dr. Ashraf Amin, professor of the department, Dr. Moaz Tohami, Dr. Mohammed Farghali, and Dr. Mohammed Hussein, teachers of the department, Dr. Khaled Hussein Khalifa, resident physician, Dr. Saif al-Din Jamal, Assistant Teacher of the department, as well as the nursing team included Youssef Sobhi, Shorouk Abdulkarim, and Hajja Mohammed Sultan.
