Assiut University Urology Hospital opens the cleft steel clinic for children

   The Urology Hospital at Assiut University, under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the university, opened today, Tuesday, January 14, the cleft steel clinic for children (multidisciplinary clinic), in the presence and supervision of Dr. Alaa Attiyah, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and chairman of the board of University Hospitals, Dr. Zia Abdul Hamid, director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Al-Darwi, professor of pediatric urology, and the supervisor of the clinic.

 The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla, vice president of the University for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Abdulalim, vice president of the University for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Shalabi, professor of surgery, medical advisor to the president of the University, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Basit Khalaf, Director of the hospital of neurological and psychiatric diseases, head of the Department of neurosurgery, Dr. Yasser Abdul Salam, head of the Department of، 
Dr. Yasser Farouk is the director of the children's Hospital, Dr. Amr Abu fdan is the deputy director of the Urology Hospital, and a number of department heads and members of the teaching staff of the Department.

 Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy praised the role of the cleft palate clinic for children as the first clinic at the level of University Hospitals to serve and care for children suffering from cleft palate disease, pointing out that the establishment of the clinic comes within the framework of Assiut University's strategy aimed at developing its medical facilities and University Hospitals to raise the efficiency of services provided to patients and contribute to the implementation of state plans to upgrade the health system and achieve sustainable development in the field of Health.

   For his side, Dr. Dia Abdul Hamid explained that the clinic is the result of cooperation between the Department of urology and other departments, including: the Department of Neurosurgery, the Department of pediatric surgery, the Department of Orthopedics, the Department of plastic surgery, the Department of Rheumatology and rehabilitation, physical medicine, the Department of Gastroenterology, the Department of neuropsychiatric diseases, the kidney unit, and the therapeutic nutrition unit.

  Dr. Ahmed Al-Darwi added: the cleft palate disease is one of the birth defects that the child has been suffering from since birth, so he needs constant follow-up by the family in all medical specialties to address the child's health condition, so that he does not suffer from serious health complications, noting: the clinic will provide its services on the first Thursday and the third of every month in the first floor of the hospital.
