Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, the arts department - Plastic Arts Department of the General Administration of student welfare organized the "most beautiful Ramadan square" competition among the University's faculties, during the period from February 11 to March 3, 2025, with the arbitration of the competition to be held from March 4 to 6, 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mawla, vice president of the University for education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Madiha Darwish, general supervisor of student activities.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the competition comes within the framework of the University's keenness to promote the spirit of creativity and innovation among students, and encourage them to highlight their artistic skills in beautifying the college squares with the distinctive Ramadan atmosphere, reflecting the cultural and heritage identity of the holy month.
The president of the University pointed out that student events, including this competition, contribute to the development of the spirit of teamwork and strengthening belonging among students, as well as providing a cheerful university environment that reflects the positive values of the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla explained that the competition witnesses the participation of 10 students from each college, where they present innovative and distinctive designs for Ramadan squares that reflect the cultural and religious spirit of the holy month of Ramadan. Students are encouraged to be creative and innovative in decorating squares using (lanterns, Ramadan decorations, pendants, flags, Ramadan characters, decorative Gates, lighting) in accordance with the atmosphere of the holy month.
The competition allocates prizes for the first three places, where the winner of the first place for the most beautiful Ramadan Square will receive a financial amount of (5000) pounds, in addition to reviving a Ramadan night inside the winning college, while the second place winner will receive (4000) pounds, and the third place will receive (3500) pounds. Honorary Shields will also be presented to the colleges winning the first three places, in addition to distributing certificates of appreciation to all participants.
This competition comes under the supervision of the General Directorate of Student Welfare, led by Dr. Haitham Ibrahim, Director General of the General Directorate of Student Welfare, Mr. Mohammed Juma, director of the arts department, and Ms. Sheri Wajdi, head of the arts department.
The jury consists of Ms. Ghada Sayed, Ms. Arwa Jalal, and Ms. Sara Jamal, who are specialists in plastic arts and works of art in the arts department.
