As part of Assiut University's efforts to promote the concepts of sustainable development, the University's Center for Sustainable Development has submitted a comprehensive proposal for the axes of training courses that it intends to implement or participate in during the coming period, and these courses aim to qualify cadres in various fields in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision 2030.
The president of Assiut University stressed that the center represents one of the main pillars to support sustainable development at the local and international levels, pointing out the importance of strengthening partnerships with various entities to achieve a sustainable positive impact. He added that the university is working on concluding cooperation agreements with academic institutions and competent international organizations, in order to exchange experiences and develop training programs that contribute to improving the quality of life and supporting the green economy.
The president of the University pointed out that these efforts come within the framework of the University's commitment to its community role, as the center seeks to provide scientific and practical solutions to environmental and social challenges, as well as training young cadres on the latest sustainable practices in various sectors.
The Center for Sustainable Development held its meeting to follow up its work plan, under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president of the University for community service and environmental development, and Dr. Saleh Mahmoud Ismail, director of the center, along with the members of the center.
During the meeting, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim stressed that the university adopts an integrated vision focused on the environmental dimension, which enhances its role in various development axes, and achieves integration between its educational and research plan and Egypt's Vision 2030. He added that the University's Center for Sustainable Development plays a vital role in promoting sustainable development efforts academically and socially, by providing innovative solutions to environmental and societal challenges, as well as launching targeted initiatives to raise environmental, economic and social awareness among students and university staff.
For his part, Dr. Saleh Mahmoud Ismail reviewed the axes of the center's action plan, which include: documenting university activities that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, implementing or participating in events and activities that are in line with the center's logistical capabilities, organizing seminars and workshops throughout the year, coinciding with official events related to sustainable development, launching student programs and initiatives aimed at supporting sustainability issues, designing and implementing training courses in the field of sustainable development, both within the University and in partnership with other parties, and concluding local and international partnerships to enhance cooperation in the fields of sustainable development.
The attendees stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the center and all faculties and sectors within the university, to ensure maximum benefit from the initiatives put forward, and integrating the concepts of sustainability in educational and research programs.the meeting also stressed the need to activate international partnerships and benefit from international expertise in the implementation of projects that serve the environment and society.
This meeting comes within the framework of Assiut University's efforts to enhance its development role and support sustainable practices that keep pace with global transformations in various environmental, economic and social fields.
