Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, opened this Wednesday morning, July 2, two technical exhibitions for students of the Faculty of specific education, the first entitled "woven touches" for fourth-level students, and the second entitled "threads of civilization" for second-level students, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president of the University for education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Yasmin Al-kahki, dean of the Faculty of specific education.

The exhibitions come within the framework of the University's support for student activities and artistic creativity, where they provided a distinctive artistic experience that reflected a combination of identity awareness, technical ability, and contemporary aesthetic vision, as well as focusing on sustainability concepts and linking art with education and society, under the supervision of Dr. Hala Salah al-Din, head of the art education department, and Dr. Rehab Ahmed Zaki, assistant professor of hand textiles at the Department.

The opening events were attended by a number of college leaders, including: Dr. Nariman Saeed, vice dean for graduate studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Basit, vice dean for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Wajdi Refat, former dean of the college, as well as a number of department heads, faculty members, the adjunct faculty, the college administration, students.

During his tour, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy praised the exhibited artworks that highlighted the students ' excellence, awareness of their culture and heritage, and their ability to present community issues in an attractive and contemporary visual formulation. He also stressed the University's pride in its talented students and its keenness to support them, considering that these activities represent a fundamental pillar for building awareness, shaping conscience, strengthening cultural identity, as well as its role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula expressed his admiration for the elaborate artistic production that reflects the technical skills and knowledge gained by the students, stressing the University's commitment to provide full support for artistic activities and student exhibitions, being a platform for creativity, artistic taste and the advancement of human taste.

Dr. Yasmin Al-kahki also expressed her pleasure in organizing these student exhibitions, which carry a clear message that art is an effective educational and expressive means, contributes to the preservation of heritage and the environment, and is presented in a contemporary spirit in line with the college's goals in supporting the concepts of sustainable development, and encouraging students to highlight and develop their talents.

The exhibition "woven touches" included about 20 hangings and textile pieces using hand-weaving, decoupage and Multimedia techniques, as well as 4 exploratory experiments carried out by the exhibition supervisor, and palm fronds were used as an environmental material in some works, reflecting an artistic vision stemming from the local environment that contributes to achieving sustainability goals.

As for the exhibition "threads from civilization", it included about 50 textile hangings inspired by the symbols and elements of the Pharaonic civilization and Egyptian folk art, through which the students showed a deep understanding of heritage, and their ability to repurpose decorative elements in contemporary textile works that express the past and simulate the present.

The exhibition "woven touches" was co-curated by marihan mohiye, assistant teacher at the art education department, Ayatollah Salah, teaching assistant at the department, and Sarah Mahmoud, teaching assistant at the Department.

Ayat Abdul Rahim, Ayat Ahmed, Sama Osama (assistant teachers at the department), along with Alaa Abbas, Tamer Rajab, Ayatollah Salah, Alaa Yasser, and Sara Mahmoud (teaching assistants at the Department) participated in the supervision of the exhibition "threads of civilization".
