The Presidents of Assiut and Badr Universities Inaugurate the Activities of the Twentieth Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine under the Slogan: "Veterinary Medicine... From Care to Treatment under the One Health Concept"

In a gesture of loyalty, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University honored Professor El-Menshawy with the faculty's shield and a collar of roses in appreciation of his efforts and continuous support.

Professor El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, and Dr. Mostafa Kamal, President of Badr University in Assiut, witnessed, on Sunday, July 12, the opening of the activities of the twentieth scientific conference of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University, which is held in cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Badr University in Assiut, and the General Syndicate of Veterinarians in Egypt, under the slogan: "Veterinary Medicine... From care to treatment under the One Health concept."
The conference will be held on July 12 and 13, 2026, where Assiut University will host the activities of the first day in the administrative building, while the conference will be completed on the second day at the headquarters of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Badr University in Assiut.
The conference is held under the supervision of Dr. Gamal Badr, Vice President of Assiut University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Magdy Hassan, General President of the Veterinarians in Egypt, Dr. Enas Ahmed Abdel Hafez, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University and Chairman of the Conference, Dr. Sari Khalil Abdel Ghaffar, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Badr University in Assiut and Co-Chair of the Conference, Dr. Madiha Hosny Darwish, former Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University and the rapporteur of the conference, and Dr. Ashraf Mohamed Abdel Malek, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University for Studies The Secretary General of the Conference, and Dr. Abdel Rahim Hassan Atay, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Badr University in Assiut for Education and Student Affairs, and Secretary of the Conference.
The opening was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mawla, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Shiha, Vice President of Sphinx University, and Mr. Shawkat Saber, Secretary General of the University, along with a group of deans of faculties, a group of faculty members, researchers, and veterinarians from various Egyptian universities, and students of Assiut and Badr universities.
In a scene characterized by appreciation and loyalty, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University honored Professor El-Menshawy, by gifting him a collar of roses and the faculty shield, in appreciation of his continuous efforts in supporting the faculty, developing its infrastructure, enhancing its educational and research capabilities, and his continuous support for young researchers and faculty members, which contributed to consolidating the faculty's position and enhancing the scientific status of Assiut University at the local and international levels.
In his speech, Professor El-Menshawy welcomed the guests of Assiut University, led by Dr. Mostafa Mohamed Kamal, President of Badr University in Assiut, along with the guests of the conference, including faculty members and researchers at Assiut and Badr Universities, praising the fruitful cooperation between the two universities in supporting scientific research and community service, stressing that this cooperation represents a successful model of academic
partnership that enhances the exchange of experiences and improves the quality of the educational process and scientific research.
The President of the University also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the College of Veterinary Medicine family for its distinguished efforts in organizing the conference, stressing that this scientific event reflects the college's keenness to support scientific research and keep pace with priority issues to serve the community.
Professor El-Menshawy stressed his deep pride in belonging to Assiut University, pointing out that working within this prestigious academic edifice represents a constant source of pride, as the university includes a distinguished elite of scientists and researchers who believe that the university is not only an institution of education, but also an essential partner in building human beings, facing the challenges of society, and creating the future.
The President of Assiut University explained that the choice of the slogan "One Health" as the title of the conference reflects an integrated scientific vision that emphasizes the close interdependence between human, animal health and the environment, pointing out that the veterinarian plays a pivotal role in protecting public health, ensuring food safety, and combating common diseases, which highlights the importance of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in preparing scientific and professional cadres capable of keeping pace with developments and serving the country efficiently.
Professor El-Menshawy expressed his pride in the scientific excellence and leadership witnessed by Assiut University in the performance of its educational, research and community mission, stressing that the university's prestigious position is the fruit of the efforts and sincerity of its children. He also expressed his hopes that the conference sessions will yield recommendations that contribute to the development of veterinary practices, and promote scientific research and cooperation between various disciplines, in order to serve the community and support sustainable development efforts.
For his part, Dr. Mostafa Mohamed Kamal stressed that the holding of the conference within the framework of cooperation between Assiut and Badr universities represents the fruit of the constructive academic partnership between the two sides, and reflects the pioneering role of Assiut University in supporting Badr University through the academic and scientific expertise it provides that contribute to the development of the educational and research process, and enhance integration between Egyptian universities. He also welcomed all participants in the conference's activities,
wishing them success and achieving more leadership and excellence in the field of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Enas Ahmed Abdel Hafez welcomed the attendees, stressing that the conference slogan is "Veterinary medicine... From Care to Treatment within the Framework of the One Health Concept" embodies a future vision based on the transition from traditional concepts to a comprehensive care system according to the concept of One Health, which links human, animal health and the environment, and is considered one of the main pillars to support sustainable development and the preservation of livestock, in line with the Egyptian state's vision to build a safer and healthier future.
Dr. Sari Khalil Abdel Ghaffar stressed that the conference represents an integrated scientific platform for fruitful cooperation between Assiut and Badr universities, and is being held for the second year in a row in partnership between the two universities, reflecting their keenness to exchange experiences and discuss the latest scientific developments and trends in the field of veterinary medicine. He also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the administrations of the two universities for their continuous support to the conference, which contributes to achieving its scientific and professional goals.
Dr. Madiha Hosny Darwish expressed her appreciation for the great support provided by Assiut and Badr Universities for the success of the conference, stressing that this cooperation reflects the keenness of the two institutions to support scientific research and exchange experiences. She explained that the conference highlights the pivotal role of veterinary medicine in achieving the concept of "One Health", supporting the sustainable development goals and Egypt's Vision 2030, by discussing scientific axes and specialized research that contribute to the development of the veterinary sector and community service.
The opening session witnessed the screening of a documentary film entitled "Professor El-Menshawy... Jaber Al-Khawatir, the President of Assiut University, reviewed the most prominent contributions of the President of Assiut University in supporting the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and the development of the infrastructure achieved during the past period, enhancing educational and research capabilities, and supporting young researchers and faculty members, which contributed to enhancing the position of the faculty and supporting its march towards excellence and leadership.
The opening session concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields, where the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University dedicated its commemorative shield to Professor El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, and to Dr. Mostafa Mohamed Kamal, President of Badr University in Assiut, in appreciation of their support and sponsorship of the conference.
The conference will witness, over the course of its two days, a number of lectures and specialized scientific sessions, as the program of the first day, hosted by Assiut University, includes a lecture entitled "Veterinary Medicine between the Present and the Future. A Vision Towards Excellence" will be delivered by Dr. Magdy Hassan, President of the General Syndicate of Veterinarians, in addition to a lecture entitled "Continuous Professional Development in Veterinary Medicine in accordance with the Requirements of the Egyptian Health Council" by Dr. Hussein Mahmoud Al-Maghrabi, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Continuing Professional Development of Veterinary Medicine at the Egyptian Health Council, and Vice President of Benha National University for Academic Affairs.
The activities of the second day, hosted by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Badr University in Assiut, include a lecture entitled "One Health... An Integrated Approach to Promoting Food Safety and Protecting Human Health" will be delivered by Dr. Ashraf Mohamed Abdel Malek, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Assiut University for Graduate Studies and Research, followed by seven parallel scientific sessions in the fields of meat health, safety and technology, dairy health, safety and technology, nutrition and livestock development, histology, anatomy, pathology, forensics, microbiology, poultry and parasites, behaviors, animal health and biochemistry, in addition to a session of scientific commentaries, followed by a discussion of the recommendations of the sessions.
The second day will also witness a lecture entitled "Respiratory Disease Complex in Broilers " delivered by Dr. Awad Abdulhafez Ibrahim, in addition to an introductory presentation on one of the companies supporting the conference, before concluding the activities with the closing session to announce the recommendations of the conference and its final results.
