Assiut University Hosts the Launch of the 9th Annual Conference of the Egyptian South Valley Association for Chest Diseases and Allergy.

On the morning of Monday, April 7, 2025, Assiut University witnessed the launch of the 9th Annual Conference of the Egyptian South Valley Association for Chest Diseases and Allergy, held under the title "New in the diagnosis and treatment of chest diseases" at Assiut University, under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of the University, in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Abdel Hady, President of the Society and Chairman of the conference,with participation of a group of senior doctors and professors specialized in this field.

The conference was attended by a number of prominent academic and medical leaders, including Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mawla, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Amany Omar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development. Dr. Mohamed Zein, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Assiut, along with a group of professors from Egyptian universities in the field of chest diseases.

The conference was organized by the organizing committee headed by Dr. Lamiaa Shaaban, head of the organizing committee, and Dr. Ali Abdel Azim, head of the scientific committee, while Dr. Marwan Nasr and Dr. Safaa Abdel Gaid coordinated the conference and organized the scientific sessions and training workshops.

 Dr. El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, stressed the importance of holding such events, as the conference aims to discuss the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of chest diseases, especially chronic diseases such as bronchial asthma and pulmonary tuberculosis. He added that this conference represents an important step towards developing the health system in Egypt, and praised the role of the South Valley Association in supporting young doctors and improving the level of health care in Upper Egypt.

Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mawla, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, pointed out the importance of the conference in light of the spread of respiratory viruses, stressing that raising the health awareness of the community is necessary to limit the spread of these diseases.

Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, praised the conference as a scientific platform to exchange experiences and modern developments in the field of chest diseases, stressing the importance of keeping pace with the development of scientific research in Egypt to achieve the 2030 vision for sustainable development.

Dr. Amany Omar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research, emphasized the efforts of the Faculty of Medicine and its university hospitals in providing medical care for chest patients, and pointed out the importance of cooperation between universities and hospitals in developing scientific research and health care.

Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, praised the conference sessions, which allow doctors to benefit from modern information in a practical way, through discussion sessions instead of traditional lectures.

Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Abdel Hady, President of the Society and Chairman of the conference, explained that the conference includes ten scientific sessions during which a variety of important medical topics will be discussed, such as: Treatment-resistant tuberculosis, the use of ultrasound in the diagnosis of chest diseases, treatment of asthma, chronic pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary embolism, lung clots, intensive care unit infections, and a specialized workshop on the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.

Dr. Lamia Shaaban, head of the organizing committee, welcomed the attendees, expressing her happiness with the wide participation of professors from Egyptian universities, as well as doctors from the Ministry of Health and Health Insurance.

Dr. Ali Abdel Azim, head of the scientific committee, thanked Assiut University for its continuous support to the association, which continues to organize such scientific conferences to serve the Upper Egypt region and promote continuous medical education.
