Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla, vice president for education and student affairs, witnessed the closing ceremony of the "180 degrees" reading and talent festival in its fifth edition, organized by the Franciscan schools of Assiut, and was held on Thursday evening, March 6, 2025, on the stage of the celestial Hall of the Catholic Church, with the wide participation of school students, with the aim of developing their skills in multiple fields, including singing, playing, acting, drawing, poetry, speech, reading, writing, promote a culture of reading and self-learning through interactive activities.
The ceremony was attended by Major General Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, governor of Assiut, Dr. Mina Emad, deputy governor, Bishop Daniel Lotfi, Bishop of Assiut for Coptic Catholics, professor Tarek Desouki, director of Assiut educational department, along with a group of public figures, a number of educational leaders and clergy, and a group of artists and creators.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy praised the role played by the Egyptian Church in supporting education and culture, stressing the importance of encouraging young people to read and participate in cultural activities that contribute to building a conscious and educated society, in line with the Egyptian state Vision 2030.
Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla also expressed his happiness to participate in this cultural event, praising the role of the state in supporting young people through events and festivals aimed at developing literary and artistic skills.
The ceremony included speeches by Bishop Daniel Lotfy, father Mukhlis Masri, director of schools and patron of the festival, Vivan Thabet, the idea of the festival, and the presentation of a documentary film entitled "The Dream".
The festival also witnessed the presentation of various artistic performances, including the play "negative one", a group performance for the winners of the festival, along with a poetry segment, a singing segment and a choir" medley " presented by the winning students in the field of singing and music.
The jury of the festival included a group of specialists in arts and literature, including experts from the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, and professors from the Faculty of specific education at Assiut University, including Dr. Wajdi Nakhla, Dr. Said Mustafa, Dr. Ihab Atef, and Dr. Salma Magdy. The participants of the festival, members of the jury, winners of various competitions were honored.
