Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, inspected on Thursday, April 3, the pavilion for people of determination of the residential unit (B) in the university cities sector, to follow up on the latest developments in maintenance and upgrading the efficiency of Infrastructure Inside The Pavilion, in preparation for receiving students of determination during the new academic year 2025/2026.
Dr. El-Minshawy was accompanied on his tour by Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mawla, vice-president of the University for education and Student Affairs, Mr. Mahmoud Antar, director general of the university cities, Mr. Emad Mohammed Sayed, director of the University City (students), a number of employees of the building, and university security personnel.
Dr. El-Minshawy stressed that the university administration pays great attention to its children of determination, and is keen to provide all appropriate educational and rehabilitation services for them, in addition to developing all university facilities to support opportunities for effective participation for them along with the rest of their colleagues in the community. He explained that this is in line with the qualitative shift witnessed by the Egyptian state under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in supporting people with special abilities at all levels.
The president of the University inspected the development and renovation works of the wing, which is located on the ground floor of Building B, and consists of (14) student accommodation rooms, ranging between Double and triple rooms. Developed taking into account the structural dimensions and appropriate Heights to facilitate the movement of students, the wing accommodates about (28) students of determination, and the wing is equipped with a ramp for the passage of students, in addition to the office and restrooms, as well as rooms for administration and security.
During the tour, Dr. El-Minshawy monitored the efficiency of the accommodation rooms to ensure that they are ready to receive students and meet all their needs, and the rooms were provided with beds, tables, benches and wardrobes. He also reassured his excellency on the maintenance works inside the corridors, kitchen and toilets, stressing the keenness of the university administration to provide a supportive university environment for scientific excellence and provide quality services.
Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla oly pointed out that the university administration pays special attention to providing integrated services to its children with disabilities, helping them to adapt to their university environment and integrate them with their colleagues. He added that this constant attention has resulted in these students achieving many distinctive successes and achievements, actively participating in student activities and representing the University honorably in local and international forums.
It is noteworthy that the Housing Unit (B) underwent a complete replacement and renovation of all facilities and services during the last academic year, at a total cost of about 13 million pounds, while maintaining the aesthetic appearance of the building and paying attention to the surrounding green spaces.
