Dr. El-Minshawy Praises the Health Awareness Day at Badr University as Part of the Ongoing Collaboration Between Assiut University and Regional Universities Within the Framework of the National Higher Education Strategy.

Assiut University Participates in a Lecture on “Malnutrition and Smoking-Related Diseases” as Part of the Health Awareness Day Activities.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, praised the Health Awareness Day organized by Badr University under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Kamal, President of Badr University, and Dr. Essam Zanaty, Vice President of Badr University for Education and Student Affairs, and attended by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President of Assiut University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs,stressing its important role in raising health awareness among students and the university community, as part of the ongoing collaboration between regional universities. This initiative aligns with the National Higher Education Strategy, which aims to enhance the role of universities in achieving sustainable development goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Dr. El-Minshawy highlighted that the Health Awareness Day represents an important step toward promoting health consciousness among students while supporting public health initiatives focused on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle promotion. He also noted that the event contributes to disseminating modern medical knowledge, which is essential for improving individuals’ quality of life.

The president of Assiut University explained that this event is part of the ongoing efforts made by universities in the Central Upper Egypt region to cooperate with each other to implement health and educational programs, calling for strengthening this cooperation to contribute to achieving sustainable development and raising community awareness about public health issues.

Assiut University participated with an awareness lecture entitled "Malnutrition and Smoking Diseases" presented by Dr. Medhat El-Araby, Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine - Assiut University, within the activities of the health education day, in the presence of Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Azza Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology - Badr University, Dr. Heba Allah Rashed, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and a number of professors from the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at Assiut University, along with some students.

During his lecture, Dr. Medhat Elaraby discussed the impact of malnutrition, such as obesity, thinness, anemia, and chronic diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure, and heart disease, in addition to the impact of smoking on public health, the causes of malnutrition, and its damage to public health.

The lecture also raised awareness about the importance of therapeutic nutrition, disease prevention, maintaining an ideal weight, and assisting individuals with chronic illnesses in managing their conditions by adopting a healthy lifestyle and passing on healthy habits to future generations.

The audience praised the lecture for its role in promoting health awareness within both the university and the broader community by providing essential health guidelines and preventive measures against diseases.

Following the lecture, a comprehensive medical screening was conducted, including obesity assessments using advanced body composition analysis devices, hemoglobin analysis for anemia diagnosis, and random and cumulative blood sugar testing, with the aim of raising health awareness among students and helping them monitor their health.
