The President of Assiut University participates in planting trees at the South Egypt Cancer Institute, as part of the activities of the "Go Green" initiative

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawi, Acting President of Assiut University, stressed the keenness of the university to play its societal and cultural role, in implementation of the directives of his excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt, in confronting climate changes and global warming through planting trees which increases the green spaces within the various areas of the university. He declared his keenness to participate in the initiative to plant fruitful trees to encourage members of the university to pay attention to the culture of afforestation, which has an environmental and aesthetic return to society. 

This declaration was during the president’s participation in planting a fruitful tree at the South Egypt Cancer Institute. He was accompanied by Dr. Maha Ghanem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development  and the supervisor of the Southern Egypt Cancer Institute; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mawla, Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Farouk Abdel Al-Qawi, Advisor to the President of the University for Agricultural and Environmental Affairs; Dr. Muhammad Abul-Majd, Vice Dean of the Institute for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Khaled Fares, Vice Dean of the Institute for Graduate Studies and Research; Mr. Shawkat Saber, Secretary General of the University; Dr. Hosni Badrawi, Head of the Clinical Pathology Department at the Institute of Oncology; Dr. Thabet Abed Al-Moneim, Director of the Center for Environmental Studies and Research; Mr. Mohamed Abdel-Salam, Director of Administrative Affairs at the Oncology Hospital; and a group of the Institute's staff members. 

Dr. Maha Ghanem announced the interest of the university to participate in all community initiatives that influence the expansion of green spaces. The aim of such initiatives is to reduce the risks of global warming and climate changes, rationalize the use of water, and spread awareness of preserving natural resources. Moreover, she declared that the university, under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawi, is keen to participate in planting fruitful trees to enhance the spirit of loyalty, belonging and patriotism.
