Assiut University Hosts the Third Fetal Medicine Conference in Upper Egypt.

Today, Wednesday, April 9, witnesses the launch of the Third Fetal Medicine Conference in Upper Egypt, organized by the Women’s Health Hospital at Assiut University in cooperation with the Upper Egypt Patients’ Rescue Association. The event is held under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University. The two-day conference, taking place on April 9–10, is being held in the Prof. Mahmoud Raafat Hall at the university’s administrative building.

The opening session was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, Vice President of Assiut University for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Gamal Badr, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; and Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board ; Dr. Amany Omar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Dr. Ahmed Nasr, Honorary Chairman of the Conference, Director of the Women’s Health University Hospital, and Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department; and Dr. Sayed Abdel Hamid, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Honorary Chairman of the Conference.

The conference was organized and prepared under the supervision of Dr. Hassan Salah, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Conference; Dr. Ahmed Abbas, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chairman of the Executive Committee; and Dr. Mohamed Abdullah, Lecturer in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and Chairman of the Scientific Committee.

In his statement, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, reaffirmed the university’s ongoing support for scientific research and the development of healthcare services in Upper Egypt. He emphasized that the conference provides a vital platform for exchanging expertise and knowledge among fetal medicine specialists, contributing to improved healthcare for mothers and fetuses.

Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mawla, Assiut University Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, praised the advanced medical care provided by Assiut University Hospitals and expressed his pleasure at the launch of the conference, which discusses the latest developments in fetal medicine. He also thanked the organizers for their role in transferring knowledge to young doctors and offering research-based recommendations that support the advancement of this medical field.

Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem, Assiut University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, stressed the importance of the fetal medicine conference as one of the main specialties in obstetrics and gynecology, and thanked Dr. Hassan Salah, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Assiut University, for his great efforts in this field.

Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, noted that holding the conference for the third consecutive year reflects Assiut University's commitment to developing medical education, recognizing the university's leadership in the field of fetal medicine.

Dr. Ahmed Nasr, honorary chairman of the conference, director of the University Women's Health Hospital and head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, expressed his happiness with the third edition of the fetal medicine conference, which continues to receive widespread participation and interest from obstetricians and gynecologists from various universities inside and outside Egypt to exchange experiences and visions about the latest international technologies in the field of fetal medicine. He hoped that the outcomes of this conference will be a real addition to this field and will contribute to enhancing the quality of health care provided to mothers and their fetuses.

Dr. Hassan Salah, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine and head of the conference, explained that this year's events focus on advanced topics such as fetal genetics and modern techniques in ultrasound imaging to detect fetal abnormalities.

Dr. Ahmed Abbas, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Assiut University, explained that this year's conference discusses the latest ultrasound technologies for the early diagnosis and detection of pregnancy and fetal diseases using scientific and research-based approaches. He noted that the second day of the conference includes a distinguished scientific session where internationally published research in fetal medicine—submitted by trainee doctors from Egypt and Sudan—will be presented, with participants competing for the conference award.

The conference concluded by honoring Dr. Hassan Salah, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Assiut University, and Dr. Ezzat El-Sobky, professor of medical genetics at Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine, for their valuable contributions to the field of fetal medicine.

The conference features ten scientific sessions covering the latest topics in fetal medicine, including ultrasound imaging, legal and ethical aspects, artificial intelligence, and various other biomedical subjects. A total of 31 speakers from Egyptian and international universities are participating in the conference via Zoom.
